In a candid conversation on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live on July 17, 2025, Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn opened up about their unconventional approach to finances in their nearly two-decade-long marriage.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2007, revealed that they maintain separate bank accounts, a decision that has shaped their relationship since the early days of their engagement.
Romijn, 52, addressed the topic after host Andy Cohen jokingly mentioned O’Connell’s financial situation following the end of his hosting gig on The Talk last year.
“We keep our money completely separate,” she stated, emphasizing that this separation was one of the first discussions they had when they decided to enter into a legal agreement together.
This financial arrangement allows both partners to maintain independence and clarity about their personal finances while also fostering a sense of teamwork when it comes to family expenses.

The couple does have a joint account, which they refer to as their “community pot.” This account is designated for family expenses related to their twin daughters, Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip, who are now 16 years old.
Romijn explained that they contribute to this account quarterly, adjusting the contributions based on their respective work situations.
“I have to say, we actually throttle how much money we put into that account sometimes depending on who’s working more,” O’Connell shared.
“The one who’s not working gets a little bit of a break and the one who is working puts in a little more.” This flexible approach reflects their commitment to supporting each other’s careers while prioritizing their children’s needs.
Romijn elaborated on their parenting strategy, revealing that they made a pact when their children were born: one parent would always be home if the other was away for work.
“So, no one else is ever going to raise them besides us,” she asserted, highlighting their dedication to being present in their daughters’ lives.

The couple’s journey began in 2004 when they met at the Maxim Hot 100 bash in Las Vegas. At the time, Romijn was still married to actor John Stamos, although they were separated.
Just a month after their initial meeting, she filed for divorce and began dating O’Connell, leading to their engagement in 2005 and marriage two years later.
Their relationship blossomed quickly, with Romijn recalling a pivotal moment when she needed a ride home from the airport after a date.
“I called Jerry, and he drove me home and basically never left,” she reminisced during a guest-hosting stint on The Wendy Williams Show in 2019.
O’Connell, known for his charismatic personality, expressed his immediate attraction to Romijn, saying, “When I met Rebecca — I know you hear ‘love at first sight’ — I just enjoyed her energy so much, immediately.
” Romijn echoed these sentiments, stating, “We both decided we wanted to be with each other more than anybody else in the whole world.
It was pretty cut and dried.” Their connection has only deepened over the years, as they continue to support each other in both their personal and professional lives.

The couple’s dynamic has garnered attention not only for their financial independence but also for their strong partnership in parenting and work.
They have hosted projects together, including the reality dating show The Real Love Boat in 2022, showcasing their chemistry and teamwork in front of the camera.
As they navigate the complexities of marriage, parenting, and careers in the entertainment industry, Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn serve as a compelling example of how couples can maintain individuality while fostering a strong, united front in their family life.
Their unique financial arrangement and commitment to each other’s success highlight the importance of communication and mutual respect in a lasting relationship.
