Hollywood veteran Kevin Costner turned 70 on January 18, and as he celebrated his new age, he remembered his former co-star, the famous singer Whitney Houston. The two had a very successful collaboration when they starred together in the 1992 film “The Bodyguard.”

On his birthday, January 18, Costner shared a photo to Instagram Stories of him and Houston on the set of 1992’s “The Bodyguard.” The photo originated from Houston’s account, which is managed by her estate’s executors.

“This photo reminds me of how lucky I am to have another birthday,” Kevin Costner wrote in the post. “We lost a light when we lost Whitney.”

Whitney Houston died at the age of 48 on February 11, 2012. If she were still alive, she would have been 61 this year.

In June 2024, Kevin Costner said that when speaking at Whitney Houston’s funeral in 2012, he refused to shorten his 17-minute eulogy so that television networks like CNN could air commercials during the broadcast.

“I prepared this speech… and I tried to compose everything I wanted to do and finally composed this speech,” Kevin Costner said. “Someone said, ‘CNN is here, they won’t mind if your speech is shortened because they’re going to have commercials.’ And I said, ‘They can get over that. They can run commercials while I’m speaking, I don’t care.’”
