Growing up is never an easy transition – even less so if you’re having to do it all in the public eye.

As bodies change, insecurities naturally creep in, and if you’re seeing yourself regularly on screen, it must feel even harder to ignore.

One sitcom star has revealed how his ‘cool’ job wasn’t enough to keep him from feeling down about his weight, and vowed to do something about it after hitting 300lbs by the age of 18.

You may recognise Trevor Larcom from Fresh off the Boat, where he played Trent, the best friend of young Eddie Huang.

He also featured in the likes of True Detective, Fuller House and Thunder Force, among others.

Now 21, Larcom is sharing his ‘full glowup journey’ after working hard to get his body where he wants it to be.

“Yeah being on TV is cool, but I hate looking in the mirror,” he said as he shared screenshots from his time on television as a child, as part of a compilation video explaining his transformation.

After turning 18, he felt he had to ‘do something about this’, and – deeming himself too ‘lazy’ for the gym’ – started to watch what he ate more and ‘go in a calorie deficit.’

After shedding 50lbs – and then 130lbs – heartbreakingly, Larcom said he still ‘didn’t like’ what he saw, and decided to hit the gym, with a snap showing him flexing his bicep in the mirror.

Soon, he realised the exercise was ‘kinda working’, but Larcom said: “I have a big problem though.

“I lost all that weight but I have this loose skin.”

A selfie in surgery scrubs revealed how Larcom opted to go under the knife to have the excess skin removed, admitting: “This is gonna hurt but it has to be done.”

Despite being the ‘worst pain’ he has ever felt, it looks like the procedure went well and it wasn’t long before Larcom was able to head to the gym again.

“Maybe all of that time in the gym, looksmaxxing, recovery, dieting finally is paying off,” he added as he posed to the camera.

Many fans praised Larcom for the sheer determination that he’s shown, with one commenting: “Huge transformation and you seem a lot happier too! Keep it up brother.”

Another said: “Literally one of my favs growing up, I’m so proud to see u grow nd progress.”

One even dubbed it the ‘best transformation’ they’ve ever seen, adding: “Extremely happy for you!!”

One fan said his story ‘helped motivate’ them to trim down from 255lbs to 217lbs, saying: “So real bro.”

And the best comment of them all? Someone else told him: “Listen bro man to man, in all your seasons you were worthy of love and being loved. Well done on your progress it’s been a phenomenal journey for you.”

Amen!

A reality star’s jaw-dropping weight loss transformation has left people ‘inspired’ and ‘emotional’.

Over the years, we’ve seen a number of reality TV shows following the lives of individuals who are trying to shed the pounds – and viewers are always so invested.

Take 1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton for example, who quickly developed a dedicated fanbase after she lost 500lbs on the TLC series.

Fans have followed Tammy’s journey as she lost weight and underwent skin removal surgery, showering her with support every step of the way.

Other notable shows that have gripped audiences include My 600-lb LifeThe Biggest Loser, and Secret Eaters.

And someone from one programme in particular has undergone an incredible transformation, so much so you probably wouldn’t recognise them.

Casey King, 40, appeared on the American TLC show Family By the Ton back in 2018, weighing 845 pounds when he first graced our screens.

He revealed how he had to bathe in an outdoor trough because he couldn’t physically fit inside a bath or shower.

Casey was living with his dad, Danny, who had to wait on him during filming.

In 2019, he underwent life-changing bariatric surgery – a vertical sleeve gastrectomy – initially lost 70 pounds after the procedure and has since shed 600 pounds, after working on a complete health and lifestyle change.

In 2023, it was reported that he was down to 245 pounds as he gave fans an emotional update on the Truly series Brand New Me.

On the show, Casey explained: “My lifestyle at my heaviest was kind of non-existent. I didn’t really like people. I didn’t like being seen. I didn’t like socialising.

“I felt like a freak show. I didn’t shower inside. I showered in a trough tub outside for a while.”

And in the update, dad Danny fought back tears as he added: “I never in my wildest dreams would have thought he would have got down to what he is now. It’s been one hell of a journey, and I tell you what, I’m so proud of him.”

Last year, Casey took to Instagram to share another update on his progress with side-by-side before and after photos, as well as some snaps of him loving life now.
