Days after kickstarting romance rumours with a dinner date in Montreal, former Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau has been spotted showing his support of singer Katy Perry in a major way.

And as such, celebrity-gossip fans have been branding her the new ‘Queen of Canada’.

For those out of the loop with Hollywood’s latest (potential!) couple, music-maker Perry, 40, and politician Trudeau, 53, were papped by TMZ enjoying dinner together at a ‘swanky restaurant in Montreal’ on Monday (28 Jul).

According to a group of eyewitnesses that spoke to the publication, the huge-name duo spent the night ‘[sipping] cocktails and shared several dishes … including one with lobster.’

The photos were released just weeks that the ‘Firework’ singer’s agent confirmed her split from actor partner Orlando Bloom – with whom she shares five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove – back in June.

The former Prime Minister of the ‘Great White North’ himself is recently divorced, having split from wife Sophie in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

Whilst neither of the Perry nor Trudeau’s representatives have yet officially confirmed any of the dating rumours currently plaguing the internet, the left-wing politician was last night spotted attending one of the musician’s shows.

Mum-of-one Perry is currently doing the rounds in Canada as part of her Lifetimes Tour, with the ex-PM being seen by fans, smiling at the singer from the crowd.

And as we say, a number of attendees to the concert have been left with the same thought: “Does this make her the queen of Canada i’m confused?”

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), another jibed of her recent mission to space as part of an all-female crew on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket: “The way she’ll be the first pop star to be a First Lady and shes even the first pop star to go to space.”

A third agreed: “Katy Perry about to secure that first lady position iktr.”

“Katy becoming a politician wife is gonna be such a gag,” joked another.

One fan went on to joke again: “Oh godty becoming the queen of Canada or something idk.”

“Last year Katy said she loved Canada, now it makes sense,” another recalled.

A seventh teased: “I think they did it but I just can’t prove it.”

Following news of their meal out earlier this week, however, one user urged fans not to jump to conclusions, writing online: “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It might be just a random casual dinner.”
