A single mismatched bullet has thrown the Charlie Kirk murder case into chaos, as forensic evidence now contradicts the lone gunman theory against Tyler James Robinson — exposing possible mishandled evidence, hidden DNA traces, and deepening suspicion that Kirk’s death was far more complex and sinister than investigators first claimed.

Charlie Kirk suspect linked to crime scene by DNA, says FBI chief

The murder investigation surrounding conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has taken a stunning turn after forensic experts confirmed that the single bullet recovered from his body does not match the rifle allegedly used by the accused, 27-year-old Tyler James Robinson.

The finding has upended what authorities had previously called a “straightforward” case of political assassination and thrust the investigation back into uncertainty.

According to investigators, the bullet found at the scene was a .

30-06 caliber — the same ammunition type as the vintage Mauser rifle police claim Robinson used.

But the ballistic markings tell a different story.

“The grooves, rifling, and metal striations are completely inconsistent with the Mauser,” said a forensic analyst familiar with the case.

“This bullet could not have been fired from that weapon.”

That revelation has shaken the foundation of the prosecution’s narrative.

The official account held that Robinson, a former military reservist with ties to fringe political groups, had acted alone when Kirk was fatally shot outside a political fundraising event last month in Phoenix, Arizona.

The recovered Mauser rifle — reportedly wrapped in canvas and hidden near the scene — was presented as the murder weapon.

But now, forensic technicians say the DNA evidence on both the weapon and its wrappings doesn’t support that conclusion.

Multiple unidentified DNA profiles were detected, raising the possibility of additional individuals handling the gun before or after the shooting.

“We’re no longer ruling out accomplices,” an investigator said on condition of anonymity.

Even more troubling to experts is the nature of the gunshot wound itself.

The .30-06 round is a powerful, high-velocity bullet that typically creates catastrophic tissue damage and a large exit wound.

In Kirk’s case, however, the bullet was discovered lodged just beneath his skin — something nearly impossible under normal ballistic conditions.

“It’s like the bullet lost its energy mid-flight,” noted one ballistics consultant.

“That alone suggests either a modified load, a different weapon, or some kind of staged evidence scenario.”

The development has prompted prosecutors to delay the pretrial hearing originally scheduled for next week.

Sources close to the defense say Robinson’s legal team is preparing a motion to dismiss the case, arguing that the state’s key evidence — the rifle — is now “scientifically invalid.

” Robinson, who has maintained his innocence from the beginning, reportedly told investigators, “I never even owned that rifle.

They’re framing me.”

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Safety has launched an internal review of the initial crime scene investigation, amid growing criticism that evidence was mishandled.

Online, speculation is rampant — with theories ranging from political conspiracy to professional hit jobs.

Friends of Kirk, a polarizing but influential figure in conservative politics, have called for transparency.

“Charlie’s death was a tragedy that shook our movement,” said one associate.

“But what’s worse is realizing we might not have the truth yet.”

As of now, investigators are re-examining every piece of physical evidence, including surveillance footage, ballistic residues, and cell tower data.

The FBI has been asked to assist in a full reanalysis of all forensic materials.

Whether the discovery of one mismatched bullet will rewrite the entire case remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the prosecution’s version of events is unraveling fast — and the search for the real story behind Charlie Kirk’s death has only just begun.
