Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio have been best friends since the 90s and have starred together in multiple films including This Boy’s Life, Don’s Plum, and The Great Gatsby.

The two actors have always supported each other’s works also spending quality time together off-set.

They are one of the rare Hollywood friends that have stood the trials and tribulations brought on by the industry.

Every actor in the industry has faced competition and this can create some ego clashes and feuds that may not end well for the dynamic between them.

However, Maguire and DiCaprio have never felt threatened by each other’s work while being very competitive with their peers.

In an interview with The Guardian, Maguire opened up about their special bond and how they deal with competition.

The Spider-Man star revealed that their lives are very different but have the same attitude towards their careers.

They have always been compared and contrasted by the media but the two friends never see themselves that way.

While being very competitive people, they also joke about the very aspect of it and also cheer for their contemporaries whom the media may label as their competitors.

He said,

Our lives are very different.

We’re both really competitive people.

I think we have a lot of confidence in our own individual paths, so whether it’s with each other or other friends of ours, we root for them.

We’re fans of our greatest competitors.

We can joke with each other about competition but are supportive.

I have a whole bunch of friends like that.

I’m glad that’s the culture of my group.

The two have gone through a lot in their professional and personal lives.

However, they do not let any of that affect their friendship and they find ways to learn from each other.

They do not take fame and stardom too seriously and their bond is more about them getting to spend time together as close friends rather than comparing their work.
