Kate Winslet Scandalously Flashed Co-star Leonardo DiCaprio During Their First Meeting While Filming Titanic For One Reason

Kate Winslet had a truly shocking way to break the ice with her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.

After starring in the 1997 film Titanic, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have become one of the most iconic on-screen couples.

The two have since become good friends and again share the screen in the 2008 film Revolutionary Road.

However, it was not the same between them before the 1997 film, as they were practically strangers on the first day of filming.

And things only got complicated, as they had to film the “draw me like one of your French girls” scene on the first day of filming.

And Winslet knew just how to get rid of the awkwardness of the situation and decided to flash her co-star.

Kate Winslet Flashed Her Titanic Co-Star

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio met while starring in James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic.

According to Ed W. Marsh’s book James Cameron’s Titanic, the first scene they had to film for the movie was the one where Rose asks Jack to draw her like one of his “French girls.”.

Considering they hardly knew each other before filming the movie, it was quite awkward for them to film the scene that involved Winslet stripping down.

“I was naked in front of Leo on the first day of shooting,” Winslet recalled, as per the book.

However, the Oscar-winning actress knew just the way to break the ice and decided to flash her co-star before they went ahead with the filming.

“She had no shame with it,” said DiCaprio, noting that the Divergent actress “wanted to break the ice a little beforehand, so she flashed me.”.

While the Oscar winner said that he was not ready for something like that it did help make things a bit comfortable among them.

“I was pretty comfortable after that,” the Titanic star said. As they continued filming, the two became very good friends.

Kate Winslet Reflected on Her Famous Titanic Scene

Titanic features several steamy scenes between Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.

However, the lead actress of the film doesn’t seem to look back at it fondly.

During the Titanic 3D release in 2012, Winslet reflected on stripping down for the movie, saying, “I wish I hadn’t shown so much flesh,” as per The Sun.

The Ammonite star said that she was young at the time and “knew [she] had things to prove.”.

Winslet also stated that she wouldn’t be looking at the scene, claiming that she would be “in the bar by that point.”.

She has shared that the scene still haunts her to this day, as she is often asked to sign the photo.

“I don’t sign that [picture]. It feels very uncomfortable.

Why would you do that?” the 48-year-old actress told Yahoo! in an interview.
