And, Gordon Ramsay, 53, was completely unrecognisable as he dressed as a woman with a blonde wig and make-up to go undercover for his hit US telly show Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours To Hell and Back.

Pictures from the latest episode show the star mingling amongst unsuspecting restaurant guests while transformed into his alter ego Libby Lou, before removing his wig to reveal his true identity.

Gordon goes undercover with an all-female book club to eat at the troubled Southern Kitchen – a restaurant located in Richmond, Virginia.

He finds a tight-knit family being torn apart by bankruptcy after putting everything they have into their business.

Gordon has carved a TV niche for himself when it comes to revamping dwindling eateries.

Other shows in which he takes on similar tasks include the likes of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell.

And he is also launching The Gordon Ramsay Academy – which will produce online cookery programmes, in what has been seen as a bid to outdo 43-year-old celebrity chef Jamie Oliver who has a cookery school.

The pair already compete for a slice of the TV market – and who has the biggest brood, with both fathers to five children.

Gordon and his wife, Tana, 45, married in 1996.

Last year they welcomed baby Oscar, 10 months, who joined the couple’s children, Megan, 22, twins Holly and Jack, 20, and Matilda, 18.

He recently admitted he ‘dropped to the floor and blacked out’ as they welcomed Oscar to the world – the first time he had witnessed a birth.

He said: ‘Tana didn’t want to see me there for previous births, she said “I don’t want you to see me in this state so get out.” This time around, I was there and I absolutely cr*pped my pants. I fainted. I literally dropped on the floor.

‘I was sat there and Oscar popped out through the sunroof and then they sort of throw you on him and he’s screaming and I fell back, the nurse grabbed me.’

The Michelin-starred chef said he had opted for a relaxing soundtrack to create a chilled atmosphere in the delivery room – which had the adverse effect.
