Molly-Mae Hague, the 26-year-old millionaire influencer and former Love Island star, has tearfully opened up following a wave of criticism from fans accusing her of being ‘out of touch’ and ‘always moaning’.
The backlash intensified after Molly-Mae publicly lamented that she had “not done one fun thing all summer,” despite jetting off to multiple luxurious destinations.
Fans were quick to highlight the apparent contradiction between her complaints and her high-profile lifestyle, which includes lavish holidays and expensive purchases.
Molly-Mae’s recent £86,000 motorhome holiday also drew scrutiny, with many questioning how someone living such an extravagant life could express dissatisfaction.
Her sister Zoe Hague, who has also faced criticism for what some deemed ‘tone deaf’ social media posts, came under fire for revealing she had fled Bali for Dubai after just 48 hours because the trip did not meet her expectations.
The sisters’ candidness about their experiences has sparked a wider debate about privilege, public perception, and the pressures of life in the spotlight.
In her latest YouTube video, Molly-Mae addressed the backlash directly, stating that she “didn’t care” about the uproar but admitted to feeling “scared” about discussing anything controversial.
Filming herself in the driving seat with her two-year-old daughter Bambi in the back, she shared honest insights into the challenges of motherhood and provided an update on her relationship with Tommy Fury, also 26.
“I’m trying so, so hard to stay positive,” Molly-Mae said, visibly emotional.
“But I feel like I need to keep my camera running all day so you can see every single thing,” she explained.
She described Bambi as “a huge problem” at times, noting how her daughter screams and makes even simple tasks like putting on socks and shoes difficult.
Molly-Mae expressed frustration with the criticism she has received, saying: “I don’t care who tells me I am out of touch with reality or all this stuff that’s going on on TikTok at the minute, I don’t care.
I’m not going to not talk about it.”
Despite this defiant stance, she acknowledged the toll the negativity has taken on her.
“I feel like I don’t want to talk about anything controversial anymore because in the last video I said some things I probably could have worded better,” she admitted.
“Even with all the motherhood things I am talking about at the minute, it’s just a lot.”
Molly-Mae sought to “debunk that whole thing” about being scared to share her daily life, emphasizing she wasn’t going to stop being honest despite the backlash.
Turning to her relationship, Molly-Mae explained why Tommy Fury has been absent from her vlogs despite their reconciliation earlier this year.
“I’ve seen so many comments saying ‘My sister Zoe is more the dad’,” she said.
“I only vlog when I am not with Tommy.
I am with Tommy literally 80% of the week and he is with Bambi the majority of the week.”
She added that she vlogs when Tommy is away because she isn’t ready to “open up” the family life on camera just yet.
“We’re not there yet and still figuring out life and living situations,” she explained.
“I’m not ready to vlog like we used to.”
Molly-Mae’s recent complaints about her summer plans sparked particular controversy.
Despite traveling to multiple destinations, she said in her vlog: “I said to a friend the other day, that I’m going to make it to the end of summer having not done one fun thing.”
This statement left many fans baffled and critical, with some calling out her failure to acknowledge the three holidays she had already taken this year.
Comments on social media ranged from disbelief to frustration.
One fan wrote: “She’s a millionaire, she can literally wake up tomorrow and do whatever the hell she wants.”
Others pointed out the contrast between her complaints and her lifestyle, mentioning trips to Wimbledon, lunches, Spain, Dubai, France, and Centre Parcs.
Another comment read: “This was so jarring because she can casually spend £6,000 in Dior on an outfit to log to Wimbledon then complains she has no time for herself.”
Critics questioned why Molly-Mae often seemed to seek sympathy despite her privileged circumstances.
“Why does she always want us to feel sorry for her?” one commenter asked.
The influencer, who is a mother to Bambi, has enjoyed a series of no-expense-spared trips this year, including to Dubai, Budapest, and Disneyland Paris in 2025.
In March, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury took baby Bambi on a family holiday to the United Arab Emirates, marking a reunion for the family.
Just a month later, the couple enjoyed downtime in Budapest, staying at the luxurious Pullman hotel, where prices start at around £500 per night.
In May, the family visited Disneyland Paris, enjoying a lavish stay at the resort.
Despite this jet-setting lifestyle, Molly-Mae recently opened up about a less glamorous trip — a motorhome holiday costing £86,000.
Tommy Fury had commented that their daughter shouldn’t be spoiled with five-star trips, highlighting the family’s desire to balance luxury with simpler experiences.
The motorhome, an Elddis Avalon 255, was intended to offer a different kind of holiday but was plagued by delays and challenges.
Molly-Mae revealed the trip had left Bambi “overtired and overstimulated,” adding to the stress of the experience.
She explained: “Tommy has bought a motorhome and we spent our first weekend in the motorhome this weekend.
Obviously, being us, we went in feet first and decided to go to the Isle of Man.”
The family booked the ferry to the Isle of Man just an hour before departure, embracing spontaneity despite the challenges of using the motorhome for the first time.
“We’d never used the motorhome before, we needed to pack it up, sort Bambi,” Molly-Mae said.
She described a wave of “you only live once, have a bit of fun” that motivated the trip.
Molly-Mae acknowledged how much she relies on Bambi’s routine, saying: “Bambi doesn’t need to be so perfectly routine every day, she’s not a newborn anymore.”
“But I’ve got so stuck in my ways with the fact that her routine is her routine and I don’t really steer away from it.”
She defended her approach, saying: “I’m not gonna feel bad for that because that is what works for me and that is what works for Bambi and Tommy, so that’s fine.”
The motorhome holiday ultimately became a source of stress rather than relaxation, with Molly-Mae candidly sharing how the trip unfolded.
Her openness about both the highs and lows of parenting and life in the public eye has been met with mixed reactions.
Molly-Mae’s experience highlights the complex relationship between social media influencers and their audiences.
Fans often expect a perfect, glamorous life but also crave authenticity and vulnerability.
When influencers reveal struggles or dissatisfaction, it can provoke both empathy and criticism.
The backlash against Molly-Mae underscores the challenges faced by public figures who navigate immense privilege alongside genuine personal struggles.
Her candidness about motherhood, mental health, and family life invites conversation about the pressures influencers face to maintain a curated image.
