The UFC’s American champion expects to have a White House superfight.

Ever since president Donald Trump announced the White House event, a host of UFC fighters have been staking their claim for a spot on the celebratory card in the summer of 2026.

One star firmly expecting to be part of the event is Kayla Harrison, who became the United States’ only current UFC champion when she submitted Julianna Pena this past June to win the women’s bantamweight title.

With her eyes set on a showdown with Amanda Nunes earlier in the year, Harrison has drawn up two options for her second title defense after getting past ‘The Lioness’.

Kayla Harrison wants Valentina Shevchenko at the White House if she wins at UFC 322

A showdown between ex-teammates Harrison and Nunes is yet to be officially announced, but the American titleholder is envisioning it for the first quarter of 2026. Should she spoil the former two-division UFC champ’s comeback, Harrison’s attention will turn to the national celebration on the White House lawn.

While that remains months away and is dependent on a successful outing against Nunes, the White House event could be on the two-time Olympic gold medalist’s mind as she watches UFC 322 on November 15.

Valentina Shevchenko will face Zhang Weili in the co-main event at Madison Square Garden. If ‘Bullet’ keeps hold of the flyweight belt, Harrison is keen to welcome the legendary Kyrgyzstani back to 135 pounds.

“There is a fight on the horizon,” Harrison said regarding the Nunes bout during an appearance on Jorge Masvidal’s Death Row MMA podcast. “It’s a fight that we all want to see happen, and it’s going to happen sooner rather than later. Before that (the UFC White House event).

“My perfect world, I fight soon and then I fight again at the White House. For sure I am going to be on the White House card; I’m the only American champion.

“I am gonna whoop her (Nunes’) a— real quick, and then in my perfect world, either Valentina beats Weili (and that fight happens at the White House),” she continued, before outlining a more ambitious wish.

“Or everybody has been talking about Ronda (Rousey) coming back, so that would be great.”

Ronda Rousey publicly turned down a UFC White House comeback

Harrison may be rooting for Shevchenko to get the job done at MSG this month, after her other option for next year’s White House event already shut down a return.

Rousey sparked talk of a UFC comeback by revealing she was rediscovering her “love” for MMA during training in a post on social media.

But while she isn’t completely ruling out a return, fans should not expect the former bantamweight champion to be part of the celebratory card in June 2026.

“I am not fighting at the White House,” Rousey said during an appearance on The Lapsed Fan podcast.

“After Mike Tyson being the biggest fight of the year (against Jake Paul), you never say never.

“But I ain’t fighting at the f—-ing White House,” she continued. “Even if offered? I got better s— to do.”
