Jennifer Aniston’s heartfelt message about her dogs is bringing everyone to tears
Jennifer Aniston may be known as Rachel from Friends, but to her dogs, Clydeo and Chesterfield, she’s just Mom. In a new, emotional tribute post to her fur sons, the star offers a stark reminder of how a dog’s love will change your life.
Fair warning: Grab the tissues.
The clip captioned “puppy love” shows a montage of Aniston’s “goodest” boys, Clydeo and Chesterfield, who are her greatest companions.
The audio is a poem “All Just Proof That a Dog Lives Here” by Josie Balka (@josiebalka), and it has dog lovers everywhere deep in their feelings. The beautiful words showcase all the best ways our beloved pups take over our lives.
Balka says “teeth marks in the baseboards, crumpled up mats by the door, nothing without fur on it anymore, are all just proof that a dog lives here.”
“Toes getting stomped on as you take off your shoes, bundling up in the freezing cold when it’s the last thing you want to do,” and “leaving a party too soon or shushing every time the doorbell rings,” are other things we do in the name of doggy love.
But, as I look over my senior terminally ill rescue dog, Franklin, the next few lines make my heart ache in ways I can’t explain.
“Being loved for every single thing you are, and knowing you’d stop time for them if you could,” she says.
“The part of the house that are not aesthetically pleasing, the wait by the door when they know you’re leaving, a fear that without them there wouldn’t be meaning, are all just proof that a dog lives here.” I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Aniston knows the feeling all too well. Clydeo and Chesterfield are the light of her life.
Aniston’s love of her dogs runs deep. She’s written a children’s book about sweet Clydeo and developed the doggy shampoo “Puppy Love” under her haircare brand LolaVie.
100% of proceeds goes to The Clydeo Fund “to help rescues and shelter pets in urgent need of care,” which is an incredible testament to the ways her rescue dogs have changed her life for the better.
Sometimes one or both pups even join the actress on a press appearance.
Maybe we could all use the reminder to never take a moment with our dogs for granted, and Aniston delivered just that. Now, excuse me while I dry my tears and hug my dog for roughly 3-7 hours.
