The pop queen told Penn, “I love you” at his charity gala last night.

They were married for four years and divorced in 1989, but more than two decades after Madonna and Sean Penn called it quits, it appears as though the former couple are revving up their romance again.

The “Living for Love” singer stepped out to support Penn at his annual Help Haiti Home gala last night, where she not only posed for photos with her ex-husband on the red carpet, but made a bold statement about her true feelings for him.

Surprising guests with a performance of “La Vie en Rose,” E! reports that Madonna began by dedicating the song to Penn. “I want to say Sean that I love you from the moment that I laid eyes on you,” she said. “And I still love you just the same.”

The site also claims the pair “had their arms around each others’ shoulders a few times while sitting at their table and they embraced before Madonna left at the end of the night.”

A rekindling of their relationship was first suggested last fall after the Queen of Pop and the Oscar-winner were spotted spending a lot of time together—first at a hotel in Santa Monica, then during the NYC stop of her Rebel Heart Tour.
