Alan Jackson (and his fans) got into some trouble over the weekend after the country music star asked concertgoers to jump over barriers, get closer to the stage, and dance.
Jackson was performing at the Two Step Inn festival in Georgetown, Texas, alongside acts such as Miranda Lambert, Sturgill Simpson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many more. While performing his song Good Time, he told punters to jump over the barriers and enjoy themselves, according to the publication Saving Country Music.
Jackson reportedly told fans to get over the barrier and come into “the pit,” which is often reserved for safety and security reasons and where photographers and occasionally cameramen are located. But Jackson was looking to boost the vibe at the venue and get involved with the show.
“Don’t worry, they won’t arrest you,” Jackson said after asking fans to get closer to the stage. “It’s the Two Step Inn, but you can’t two-step.”
According to Saving Country Music, security quickly shut down the show as more people leapt over the barrier and demanded that the audience leave. They reportedly refused to allow any more live music until the usually cordoned-off area was clear.
The pause reportedly lasted for approximately ten to 15 minutes. After the area was cleared and Jackson returned to the stage, he confirmed that he still wanted people closer to the stage but continued with the performance.
He added, “I guess they don’t like to have a good time! Hey, look, there’s a woman drinking a beer. Get her!”

Last May, Jackson announced his final tour of the US and said, “Fans know when they come to my shows, they’re going to hear the songs that made me who I am – the ones they love.
“I’ve been touring for over 30 years – my daughters are all grown, we have one grandchild and one on the way… and I’m enjoying spending more time at home. But my fans always show up to have a good time, and I’m going to give them the best show I can for this Last Call.”
