Snowboarding Icon Luke “The Dingo” Trembath Passes Away at 38, Leaving an Unfillable Void. Australian snowboarder Luke “The Dingo” Trembath, known for his infectious energy and deep impact on the snowboarding community, has passed away at the age of 38.
The shocking news was confirmed on Feb. 28 by Monster Energy, which had worked closely with Trembath on his popular podcast, UNLEASHED.
The cause of his passing has not been revealed, but the loss has sent waves of grief through the action sports world, with tributes pouring in from athletes and fans alike.
Trembath, who originally hailed from Mount Martha, Australia, showed exceptional talent in snowboarding from an early age. By 13, he was already nationally recognized in Australia, having started the sport at just 9 years old.
His relentless passion drove him to move to the United States at 14, settling in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, before later making Mammoth Lakes, California, his home.
In a 2020 interview, he credited his mother for making enormous sacrifices to support his career, stating, “My mum quit everything and moved to the States with me so I could train with the U.S. team.”
By 17, he had turned professional and soon became a defining personality in the world of snowboarding. But Trembath wasn’t just an athlete—he was a force of nature, known as much for his vibrant personality and entrepreneurial spirit as his skills on the snow.
He co-founded Grenade Gloves, a brand that quickly became a favorite among snowboarders.
Then, in 2008, he gained further recognition when he starred alongside two-time Olympic silver medalist Danny Kass in The Adventures of Danny and the Dingo, a show on Fuel TV that showcased the raw, unpredictable, and often hilarious world of professional snowboarding.
His passion for inspiring the next generation led him to co-found Find Your Grind, an organization designed to help young people discover career pathways tailored to their individual strengths and interests.
“After being a successful athlete, I wanted to show others how they can discover what they are most interested in and connect to the different pathways that can help lead them there,” he once said.
His ability to connect with people—whether fellow athletes, business partners, or fans—made him a magnetic presence in every room he entered.
Trembath was also a staple in extreme sports media, co-hosting UNLEASHED with Monster Energy alongside UFC ring girl Brittney Palmer and Danny Kass. His larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and boundless enthusiasm made him a beloved figure in the industry.
As news of his passing spread, tributes flooded in from athletes across various disciplines. Legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk described Trembath as “The Great Connector” in the action sports world, saying, “Words cannot describe the joy this guy brought to every gathering.
His laughter was magically contagious… The void you leave behind cannot be filled.” BMX star Jaie Toohey called him “one of the most incredible people” he had ever met, while NASCAR driver Kurt Busch promised to race in Australia with Trembath’s “Aussie Dingo spirit sitting shotgun.”
TJ Lavin, the BMX legend and MTV’s The Challenge host, echoed the sentiments of many, writing, “Every single time I hear a friend is gone, it’s devastating and so damn hard. Miss you, man…”
Despite the outpouring of grief, Trembath’s legacy remains strong. He wasn’t just an athlete—he was a mentor, an entertainer, and a visionary who reshaped the culture of action sports.
His energy, humor, and unbreakable spirit made him a fixture in the industry, and his impact will continue to be felt for years to come.
The action sports world has lost one of its brightest lights, but as countless friends and fans have echoed, his laughter, passion, and larger-than-life presence will never be forgotten.
