Ed Kelce believes Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift will have more time to connect after the Super Bowl, praising Swift’s intelligence and growing passion for football
As the NFL season barrels toward its grand finale, all eyes are on Travis Kelce—not just for his performance on the field, but also for his high-profile romance with Taylor Swift.
While speculation swirls about the couple’s future, Travis’ father, Ed Kelce, is weighing in on what lies ahead for the two once the Super Bowl frenzy settles.
In a recent interview with Australia’s Today show, Ed Kelce shared his thoughts on how the relationship between his son and the global pop sensation will evolve in the coming months.
“I think, you know, once we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period of time for the two of them,” he told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo on February 6.
“Without the NFL season, without the Eras tour. Just them alone really connecting more. I think that can only be a good thing.”
The comment has only fueled more curiosity about what’s next for the couple, with fans eager to know whether an engagement could be on the horizon.
However, when Stefanovic playfully pressed Ed for a wedding date so he could “book his fare,” the seasoned father responded with a chuckle. “Okay, good,” he said, clearly amused. “Did you really think I was going to come up with that?”
One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the upcoming game is whether Taylor Swift will make a surprise appearance at the Super Bowl. With Travis’ team, the Kansas City Chiefs, set to face off against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, speculation has been running wild about a possible Swift cameo.
But if Ed Kelce knows anything, he’s not spilling the beans. When asked about the possibility of Swift performing or making a surprise appearance, he simply shrugged off the question.
“I wouldn’t, I have no idea,” he admitted. “I haven’t talked to Taylor this week. I have no idea what her plans are. I would let her publicist talk to you about that.”
Whether she appears at the game or not, Swift has already made an impression on the Kelce family—especially on game days.
Ed Kelce has been candid about his admiration for Swift, particularly when it comes to her dedication to learning the ins and outs of football. Sitting next to her at games, he’s had a front-row seat to her growing knowledge of the sport.
“She’s learning much more about football. She’s watching football with her dad a lot. She’s watching football whenever she can,” Ed shared. He recounted a moment during a game when the Chiefs were in the red zone and had to settle for a field goal.
“I’m sitting there thinking, ‘I hate field goals.’ And Taylor comes back and says, ‘I’ll take the points.’”
The exchange left Ed thoroughly impressed. “I’m thinking, ‘Look at you… a year ago, you didn’t know a field goal from an extra point, and now you’re doing all this football talk.’ So I think she’s enjoying the game, and she’s a very smart young lady.”
Beyond her growing football expertise, Ed Kelce also spoke highly of Swift’s personality, praising her kindness and the way she interacts with fans. “She’s just a joy to be around,” he said, echoing sentiments he’s shared in previous interviews.
With the Chiefs and Eagles both playing in this year’s Super Bowl, the Kelce family faces an unusual dynamic. While Travis is leading the charge for Kansas City, his older brother, Jason Kelce, spent his entire career with the Eagles before retiring in 2024.
Despite the family’s deep ties to both teams, Ed Kelce made it clear where his loyalty lies.
“I think Jason would love to see his brother do well,” Ed said, acknowledging his elder son’s long-standing devotion to the Eagles. “He still has his loyalties to the Eagles. As far as me, I only got one dog in this fight.”
While the Super Bowl remains the immediate focus for the Kelce family, fans will undoubtedly continue to speculate about what’s next for Travis and Taylor.
Will an engagement follow once the season wraps? Will Taylor continue deepening her football fandom? For now, Ed Kelce isn’t giving anything away—but one thing’s for sure: the post-Super Bowl era will be a defining chapter for the couple.
