Adam Levine recalled a wild night during his pre-marriage party days when, after drunkenly confronting a Los Angeles club owner over a friend’s mistreatment, he was hilariously thrown over a bodyguard’s shoulder and carried out, a moment he now laughs about as part of his personal growth and transformation.
In a candid and unexpected story that’s surprising even the most devoted Maroon 5 fans, frontman Adam Levine opened up about a chaotic night at a Los Angeles nightclub where things got so heated that he was physically carried out by a bodyguard—over the shoulder style—after confronting the venue’s owner.
The singer shared the wild tale during a new episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast released on July 2, 2025, offering a rare peek into the edgier, less-polished side of celebrity nightlife.
According to Levine, the incident took place years ago, during what he called his “wild phase,” long before marriage and fatherhood mellowed him out.
“I got really drunk one night,” Levine admitted with a laugh. “I was being very emotional about something ridiculous, and I ended up confronting the owner of this really exclusive club in L.A.”
He didn’t name the venue, but gave enough clues for fans to speculate it may have been one of the elite Hollywood hotspots known for turning away even A-listers at the door.
“There was something about the way he treated one of my friends,” Levine explained, hinting that the confrontation stemmed from a personal sense of loyalty. “I was just, like, ‘This isn’t right.’ So I marched up to him.”
That’s when things escalated. “I’m getting heated, right? And next thing I know, my bodyguard—who was this massive dude—literally throws me over his shoulder like I’m a rag doll and starts carrying me out of the club,” Levine recalled. “It was like a scene out of a movie.”
As he told the story, Levine chuckled at how absurd it must have looked: a pop star known for smooth vocals and slick style being carted out of an upscale nightclub like a toddler mid-tantrum. “I wasn’t mad at him,” he added. “Honestly, I probably deserved it. He was doing his job.”
Levine didn’t offer a precise year for the incident but said it was “definitely pre-kids,” suggesting it happened before his marriage to Behati Prinsloo in 2014 and the birth of their daughters Dusty Rose and Gio Grace.
The singer has been open about how family life transformed his priorities, shifting him away from the party-heavy lifestyle he once embraced as the face of one of the most commercially successful pop-rock bands of the 2000s and 2010s.
“I’ve calmed down a lot,” Levine admitted. “But man, those stories still follow you.”
The revelation comes at a time when Levine is once again in the public eye, following the announcement of a new Maroon 5 album set to drop this fall, along with a return to the stage for a series of summer tour dates across the U.S.
He also recently made headlines for appearing in a surprise duet with SZA at Coachella 2025, signaling a possible genre pivot for the band after years of pop-rock dominance.
On social media, fans reacted to the podcast clip with amusement and surprise. “Imagine being the bodyguard who had to carry Adam Levine out of a VIP club,” one user joked. Another commented, “The visual alone is worth the story—love that he can laugh at himself now.”
While Levine didn’t go into detail about the aftermath of the incident, he hinted that it wasn’t a permanent falling out. “I’ve actually seen that club owner since,” he said. “We didn’t talk about it, but there was this look… like, ‘Yeah, that happened.’”
This isn’t the first time Levine has opened up about the pressures of fame and the sometimes-awkward reality of celebrity behavior under stress.
In past interviews, he’s discussed how being in the public eye can distort judgment, especially during moments of emotional vulnerability—or intoxication.
“I think a lot of people think we’re bulletproof,” he said. “But we’re just human. We make dumb decisions. Sometimes you need a 300-pound guy to remind you to chill.”
As Levine steps back into the spotlight with a new chapter in his career, the nightclub story serves as both a cautionary tale and a comedic reminder that even global superstars have their not-so-glamorous moments. And in Levine’s case, he’s not afraid to laugh about them.
