The cable news network MSNBC, which has

Rachel Matto and Arie Melbour and others

as personalities and is a favorite of

liberals, is getting a new name. It will

be known as My Source for News, Opinion,

and the World, or MS Now for short. It’s

MSNBC will change its name to MS NOW as part of split from NBC | PBS News

all something that was ordered by NBC

Universal as part of the corporate

divorce uh between it and some of its

cable companies, which are forming a new

company known as Versant. MSNBC is

MSNBC will change its name to MS NOW as part of split from NBC | PBS News

building a new news organization with

its own reporters and some of its own

people and NBC News has been a little

bit nervous about having its more

straight news report associated with

MSNBC’s more liberal bent. President

Trump calls MSNBC MSDNC. As a matter of

fact, the change will take place later

this year and the NBC Peacock is being

Farewell, MSNBC. Hello MS Now. Wait, What?

removed from the logo of MSNBC and all

the other cable networks.

MSNBC is going away later this year,

just as we predicted. Mass layoffs

likely happening. A brand new logo, a

new company, a new parent. And folks,

MSNBC - NBC.com

they’re getting spanked in the ratings

like you can’t believe. But the

mainstream media determined to spit it

as best they can, even as Fox News wins

it again and again. Today, we’ll dive

into just how bad it is for MS Now and

CNN. Maybe it should be called MS Was.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome

back to another fantastic video of

excellence. Yes, indeed. Here on the pro

channel, happy Monday. It is not a happy

Monday for the folks over at MSNBC.

We’re about to explain why, but it looks

to us like that is a channel that is

about to D I E, not D EI. Joining us

today is Kevin Apollo, Marvin Montinro,

and LW Ghost. Gentlemen, welcome back to

you all.

Thanks for having us here.

Crazy.

Been a crazy busy day. I was in the

middle of being at the gym and then all

of a sudden the MSNBC’s on fire and had

to

That’s right, folks.

I had to literally run home because I

walked to the gym.

He He got straight off the treadmill and

just kept running. All right, let’s dive

in right now. Versant. What the heck is

Versant? Well, we’re going to explain to

rename MSNBC and drop the famed Peacock

logos in Comcast Separation. This is by

Alex Sherman over on CNNBC,

which is still part of NBC, but not

MSNBC. Now, Versant is the company that

is in in charge of holding all of these

spunoff assets that uh Comcast and NBC,

they don’t want they don’t want to be

associated more with this stuff. So,

they’ve spun it off. There’s this new

company that controls it called Versant.

MSNBC is one of those and uh here we

have in the key points MSNBC will change

its name later this year to MS now. Now

the MS originally stood for Microsoft

right because this was a joint v venture

back in the late ’90s between Microsoft

and NBC. Now the MS is going to stand

for my source news opinion world. What’s

so funny about this is they get to keep

MSN.

Microsoft’s going to love that a but uh

NBC said screw you. We don’t want

anything to do with you on NBC. You’re

going to have to get your own uh

newsroom. And down here on the third

point for key points, it says MSNBC has

been undergoing aggressive hiring for

about 100 new positions to stand up its

own newsroom independent from NBC. Now,

why would that be? Well, because

MSNBC essentially freeloaded off of NBC

and got to have their newsroom as as

their own. That’s gone now. And so when

we say that layoffs are coming, what I

mean by that is the reason layoffs are

going to be there is because MSNBC Lou

cannot afford to hire 100 people,

especially if it has to be its own

financially successful entity as opposed

to sponging off of the rest of Comcast.

So if they’re hiring 100 people, they

have to cut to the marrow everywhere

else. Lou, do you see any other way?

Well, that’s true, but it’s also

because, for example, in foreign cities

where NBC NBC’s had a bureau with staff,

uh, if they can’t use that anymore, what

do they do?

What do they do?

What do they do?

So, they can’t afford to set up their

own. It’s just insanely expensive after

all this time. So, it’s going to be real

interesting. I I want to see the pitch

where the new my source news opinion

world goes to the existing employees at

NB NBC and says ah don’t you want to

jump ship to the new thing and and they

look at him like um no and I don’t want

to shove this needle in my eye either.

Why do you ask?

I I think I think the plan here is to

let this thing go down. If we look at

Variety from Todd Spangler, MSNBC

rebrand to MS Now draws derision

confusion. Uh they mock in this article

the logo folks. On the left is the logo

they’re not allowed to use anymore. They

can’t have NBC in their name. And the

reason because NBC doesn’t want to be

affiliated with them. They don’t want to

have any association with them. They’re

embarrassed of them. And this logo on

the right, Lou, is just I mean, listen,

that looks like you threw that into AI

and it took 30 seconds to give you some

goofy looking little flag. I just wonder

way deep in the contracts that started

it all way back when if they had to go

on hands and knees to Bill Gates and

say, “Can we do this?”

Because the MS was Microsoft once upon a

time. So, I don’t know.

My understanding is that Microsoft

completely divested from this back in

2005. So, Microsoft doesn’t want to have

anything to do here. Uh, let me read

this real quick from uh Variety. This is

the quote we have from the cable

network. And as we read this, I just

want to folks, let me tell you how this

has gone in the past because there’s

going to be some people who say, “Well,

bro, this is clickbait. MSNBC is not

over. It’s they’re just changing the

name, bro. They’re just Well, come on

now. They’re changing ownership. They’re

changing the uh the name. They’re

changing the brand. Mass layoffs we

anticipate to be on the way. I This is

not even going to be the same channel in

about 6 months.” Let me go over how this

has went in the past. Outdoor Life

Network. I don’t know if you all

remember that. Uh was an outdoor cable

channel. It’s now NBCSN.

You ever heard of that? No.

SN. What is the SN stand?

Who even knows? I bet sports. I bet I

bet sports network is what I bet. Uh

there was a channel called Sleuth. There

was a channel called Sleuth years ago.

They changed it in 2011 to Clue. C L O.

It is as well known as you can imagine.

And who can forget TechTV became G4

TechTV and it’s now G4 uh which has been

folded in I believe uh they stopped

about 2021 2022 right how’d that go for

them this is what happens when channels

go to die here’s the quote then we’ll

get Marvin in later this year MSNBC will

take on a new name my source news

opinion world uh they should have just

named it the Rachel Matau channel really

honestly they should have done that and

they just played uh you know reruns of

Rachel Matto out. This name further

underscores our mission to serve as your

destination for breaking news and

thoughtful analysis and remain the home

for the perspectives that you’ve relied

on for nearly 30 years. Marvin, uh I

don’t think given the ratings and given

the fact that NBC wants to be separated

from them that this is a good way to go

and I don’t think they plan to go this

way for much longer. I think this is

saving face

for maybe 6 months, maybe a year and

then goodbye to the channel. I don’t

know if it becomes like a u I don’t know

if it becomes like MTV where music is

still in the name but music is not what

happens. Maybe that’s what’ll be with

the news. What do you think?

This is a and and you’re seeing it with

with NBC, you’re seeing it with Warner

Brothers. This is a ploy to dump the the

the failing um you know legacy cable

divisions of these large companies

without tanking the main company’s

stock. So Versent has been spin spun off

has been spinning off into its own

publicly traded entity.

Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Are you

telling me that the pronunciation is

Versent?

That’s how I pronounced it.

I think Versant sounds fancy because

it’s a con and therefore it’s

conversant.

Yeah. So you spin off to Von and and

then you let it go for like two years

and then all of a sudden you could be

like guess what? we’ve sold off the

assets to MS now or whatever it is or

we’re clos or we sold TNT over at Warner

Brothers or you know whatever it’s going

to be and then the the Versam uh stock

will will drop and the NBC stock will

not drop that is it that they they are

trying to get rid cut the dead weight

out without tanking the stock and

ticking off all the shareholders but as

some if I could steal a line from you

know another one of our panelists here

it gets worse Because as we covered in

our article on that park place, not only

are they taking their name out of MSNBC,

they’re also kicking them out of their

house. MSNBC is being ejected from

Rockefeller Center and has to go find

its own place to live.

Well, they’re going to listen, they’re

going to do what we do, except, you

know, we’re not a full-blown cable news

network. We I think we’re doing pretty

darn well here on the new media, but

they’re going to have people sit at home

in their jammies. Lou’s in his jammies.

I know you are, Lou. Uh, and and by the

way, folks, you know that Kevin’s

wearing a shirt, but below that, we

can’t prove anything. Uh,

I don’t wear jammies, for the record.

Well, Rachel, speculate how you like as

to what I’m actually sitting here in or

not in.

Well, Rachel Matto is going to be in her

jammies, and that’s how this is going to

work. They’re going to just they’re

going to bring people in remotely. Uh,

they’ve got to cut every cost they can.

I’ll show you why. Kevin, take a look at

this. Out of AD Week, and AD Week is

spinning this as hard as they can. We

love Ad Week, but come on. Come on. I’m

going to show you the headline and I’ll

show you what it really says. Week of

August 4th, cable news ratings, MSNBC

has growth. Fox News still number one.

That’s what they’re saying. Uh, MSNBC

has across the board growth. This is the

latest we have. I want to I want to

scroll down here and show you. All

right, so compared to last year. Okay,

let me get here. Where’s it at? Where’s

it at? Okay, here’s what we want. Um,

we’re comparing to last year. Now,

there’s going to be a drop from last

year because last year the the

presidential election was in high gear

and this is about the time that we had

all the fallout. People were debating

whether or not Biden was going to drop

out after that hor horrific debate.

Okay, so let’s see how the how the

channels are comparing during prime time

compared to this exact time last year.

Fox News was down 4%. Down 28% in the

demo in the demo matters. What about

MSNBC? MSNBC is down 41%

in total viewers compared to Fox 4%.

Down 41% and down 54% in the demo. And

yet the headline the headline claims

that MSNBC has growth because compared

to last week, they went up by like 2%. I

mean, come on, Kevin. Come on.

It could always be worse. They could be

CNN.

Well, that’s that’s true. We’re going to

go to CNN in just a minute. And Kevin,

what say you about this ridiculous

headline and how they’re trying to spin

this? They’re down by half in one year.

They can’t go on.

Come on. This is the black knight going,

“This is only a flesh wound.” The uh

Exactly.

The I get it. You You You

didn’t find your new low yet, but you’re

still down really low.

Hey, Kevin. Hey, Kevin. We’re not dead

yet.

Exactly. Exactly.

MSNBC isn’t dead. They’re just pining

for the Fords.

But the big thing is, remember ad week

theoretically

is for advertisers.

So them saying, well, honestly, they

they really do have a little something

is them saying, “Please buy an ad over

there, even if you don’t care if you

reach 10 people.”

Well, I guess it’s going to be it’s

going to be an ad fire sale at this

point. The if you don’t want anybody to

see it, the I just Oof. Oof.

Hey, Kevin. Kevin, here’s the thing.

Versant Versant cannot pay Ala Mad. She

they can MSNBC under Comcast can only

afford her one day a week. So they can’t

afford her. I don’t think they can

afford Jins Saki and Jen Saki isn’t

doing it’s Jen Saki in the ratings.

Circle back to that. Kevin, they’re

going to have to go get people who

nobody knows and say, “Have at it.

You’ve got to be better than who we’ve

got right now.”

This is and cheaper. This is going to be

the community theater reenactment of

Gone with the Wind at this point. The

It’s Listen, we all saw this coming

apparently except for MSNBC. The We’ve

been watching the ratings um kind of

live on the edge of the cliff, fall,

find the brand new cliff to kind of hold

on to and then fall off of that. The It

just keeps going lower and lower and

lower. It’s the widely coyote noise

without him actually hitting the bottom

yet. the the this this was again this

was coming like a freight train. I so

there’s no shock here especially when we

announced that Versold was taking over.

Uh NBC this is a toxic brand and NBC

knows it. They want to try to get back

into the news business versus what

happened here. And listen, it’s not like

MSNBC ever really truly had a good

reputation. It’s always been the

laughingstock of you know of the of the

big three news brands. the So, we’re

just we’re we’re kind of getting to the

actual uh comple of the fatal comple.

That’s right. And the fate is just as

bad. If we look over on CNN, uh CNN

Brian Stelter is covering this. What you

all need to know out there is that

Warner Brothers Discovery, they did the

same thing to CNN. CNN is is kicked out.

Uh we don’t know what’s going to happen

exactly with CNN yet, except we

anticipate, just like we’ve been telling

you now for months, folks, if you’ve

been watching this channel, you knew

this was coming. Uh we we predict that

CNN will also undergo massive

transformation and uh major layoffs.

Sorry uh that all the all the viewer

from airports across the country will be

gone. All the viewer MSNBC is getting a

new name as part of its split from NBC

News. This is by Brian Stelter. As we

said, as the cable news channel MSNBC

splits up with NBC News, it also is

dropping the NBC from its name. Later

this year, the channel will become MS

Now, which stands for my source for news

opinion in the world. Quote, well, we’re

not going to read that. We’ve heard it

before, but MSNBC is going through a

much bigger change this year as

corporate parent comcast spins off most

of its cable channels into a new company

called Versant. Now, Brian Stelter says

that and just keeps on going as if

that’s not a big deal. Yes, they are

spinning

most of their cable channels. What are

the channels they’re they’re spinning

off, folks? What is this most they’re

speaking of? The failing ones.

Yes. Yes, they are kicking out their

failing CA channels and keeping the ones

that work.

And what is what is the pitch to

potential stockholders? Would you like

to get all the crap in one easy place?

Buy our stock.

Right. Exactly.

I mean, you now you don’t have to lose

in six places at once. You can lose in

one place and write it off against your

winners.

And I swear, Lou, they picked this guy.

They picked the CEO CEO just for his

name. Like there was no interview

process,

nothing. It’s probably the only one who

he’s the only guy who’s got a chance.

Lazarus, come on in. Versant CEO Mark

Lazarus, also known as the executioner,

said Monday that Comcast NBC Universal,

which is keeping the NBC broadcast

network and other assets, has decided to

keep the iconic peacock symbol for its

own purposes. So, get this straight,

ladies and gentlemen. The guy who runs

uh the the the channels that actually

NBC is proud of, they get to keep their

name. You got to love it. You got to

love it. Oh me. Oh me. So Golf Channel

and CNBC, they to keep the name. MSNBC

does not. NBC doesn’t want to be

associated with them. Uh gentlemen,

final thoughts on this. Marvin, let me

go to you and just ask, uh, how long do

they got? How long until everything

changes? Everybody is is new and uh we

give up on this chase for trying to be

in the same club as Fox News. I I think

we’ve got at least five years until they

close up shop entirely because you have

to give it some time so that it’s not

you know it it’s painfully obvious what

the company split is and why it exists

but you can’t rub people’s face in that

because then that that puts your

deception you know on on uh on blast. So

I think they’re going to deal with it

for at least 5 years and that’s going to

be that. In the meantime though, by the

time that five years rolls around, it’s

gonna look nothing like the NBC, MSNBC

that we know now. I don’t think you hold

on to Joe Scarboro for that long. Um,

you know, I don’t I don’t think you hold

on to Rachel Mano. I don’t think they

can pay her. Um, I don’t even run out.

That’s when they’re gone.

I don’t even think you’re going to be

able to hold on to that lady who the

only thing she does is every 10 minutes

she’s like, I worked for George W. Bush.

Yeah. They’re going to become the VH1

of, you know, that that’s where they’re

headed. VH1. They’re going to have

prepackaged stuff. Extremely cheap to

make. I don’t know, maybe maybe in 5

years it’ll be AI reading the news on MS

now and it’ll just be a ticker down at

the bottom for a fake fake AI person.

Opportunity, however, I must say to draw

the few people who still like them. They

should have made it stand for my sore

nuggets because Co Bear.

That is That is a good stretch to get

there. But I like it. I like it. Kevin,

you get the final word. Mr. Belmar. What

the heck is Belmar?

Well, so Belmar was a was a gym injury,

didn’t he? That defied the uh that

defied the beer bug rules.

Oh, so this is not a Bill Maher

reference. This is a reference to Oh.

Oh. And Kevin, before you give your

final word, I just want to say too,

you’re making us all very jealous of

you. I have tried to set up a a studio

system outside for when it’s beautiful

so that I can enjoy, but every time I do

it, like the wind blows and I get the

sound in the mic and I don’t know how

you have managed what you’re doing, but

I am entirely jealous of you.

He obviously sabotaged all his neighbors

lawnmowers. Yes, he he stares down the

elements until they decide not to

interfere. A wood a woodpecker sits on

his uh on his bananister and he says,

“Not today, bird. Not today.”

Although my dog is in the background

trying his best to become the star of

the show. The um listen, this was a long

time coming and you can tell how much

faith they have in the brand by its

awful name. Everybody remember Air

America? No, you don’t. And there’s a

reason for that. This is also you’re no

one’s going to be talking about this

outside of how awful this name is. I

think Marv is very generous. I don’t

give them five years. This is happening

because we got to cut the dead weight.

These networks do not have the money. Um

people, you know, between the between

the cutting the cord, the streaming

wars. Um these uh advertisers need to

pick and they need to pick uh or rather

say that you know to to to paraphrase

from uh last crusade they need to choose

and they need to choose wisely.

There you go. They already drank from

the cup. Kevin and they chose poorly. So

they chose the end of it.

All right. Well folks get over and

support uh Mr. Apollo at the house of

Apollo here on YouTube. No videos yet

but it’s coming. Brand new channel on

the way. Also, he’s on with Lauren and

Apollo Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00

p.m. Eastern right here on the Pro Show.

Great show.

Marvin Montinro is over at That Park

Place as well as Tony Town TV and Tony

Town Wrestling. And ladies and

gentlemen, you can tune in to LW Ghost

where he’s bringing you the most

up-to-date info you need to know about

how Holly Weird really works. It’s on

that Pod Place as well as member

exclusive content right here on the

channel. Gentlemen, thank you to you all

for your expert level analyses. And with

that folks, as they all wave goodbye,

keep learning, keep growing, and as

always, keep having fun.

No. Hey, Flor, what you doing? Thinking

about Rome.

No, I wasn’t. But thanks. Now I lost the

game.

Dang it. Now I lost the game.

Well, now now you’re a double loser.

Hey guys.

You know what would help you in your

grief?

Forgetting those things and filling your

mind with articles from that

parkplace.com

and using that website as a launching

pad to get you lost in thought with all

of the team from there.

Yeah, that’s actually a good idea.

Yeah. Oh, well, Flora, would you look

down here?

I hate you.
