I do remember when we finished this the

scene and um as I was walking off Dean

Martin came on and said to the audience

you see now there’s an

actor I never forgot that coming from

his mouth his lips made it hit me in in

such a way you know and I loved him so

much he was just the most wonderful man

when life gets tough it’s often the

unexpected friendship that help us

survive through the tough times Everest

Marty (1955) - multi-academy award winning film that changed the trajectory of American cinema - YouTube

Borgnine a revered figure in Hollywood

shared stories of camaraderie and mutual

respect with none other than the

legendary Dean Martin let’s see what

Ernest borg9 speaks up about Dean Martin

and Frank Sinatra but first we need to

understand Dean Martin as a person in

the heart of Ohio in a town called

Stubenville a star was born on June 7th

1917 his name wasn’t Dean Martin then

rather he was known as Dino Paul cretti

the lad was a son of Italian immigrants

the little brother of Bill cretti they

say every great dream begins with a

dreamer and our Dino was a dreamer from

day one don’t get confused Dino Paul

cretti and Dean Martin are the same

person like Clark Kent and Superman Dino

transformed into Dean Martin a great

actor and singer many people love he was

the last born in his family with just

one elder brother named Bill as the

saying goes all work and no play makes

Jack a Dull

Anne Wiggins Brown Biography – Afrocentric Voices in "Classical" Music

Boy understanding this young Dino who

would later become Dean Martin started

playing drums apart from studying at

Grant Elementary School in Stubenville

Ohio he used to bang on his drum set

creating his own Rhythm and his own

music once you choose hope anything’s

possible like this saying Martin who

left Stubenville High School in the 10th

grade started to explore a new world

instead of burying his nose in textbooks

he put on gloves and stepped into the

boxing ring he took the fun nickname of

kid crochet and became an amateur

Welterweight boxer he was working

part-time not sitting in a classroom but

learning lessons from life but always

remember life is like riding a bicycle

to keep your balance you must keep

moving with this motto Martin didn’t

stick to one thing he was Restless

curious and always ready for new

adventures he found himself doing some

questionable and risk-filled tasks he

was driving cars loaded with liquor

across different states during a time

when alcohol was

banned sometimes we are tested not to

show our weaknesses but to discover our

strengths Martin’s adventurous Spirit

didn’t stop there he began to sell

lottery tickets acting as a goet for

punters moreover he even played the role

of a bookie taking bets on

Sports life is more fun if you play

games Martin took this saying to Heart

and started working at the local

gambling joints he was dealing cards

spinning the roulette wheel taking money

from the winners and giving it to the

losers he was in the thick of the action

learning how the world worked beyond the

confines of school but remember life

doesn’t require that we be the best only

that we try our best Martin story is a

testament to this from school dropouts

to boxers to Gamblers and more

Martin navigated his way through life

taking every opportunity as a learning

experience he knew the importance of

constantly moving forward and he did

just that Paving his own path in the

world when Martin was only 17 he set

foot in the exciting world of Show

Business he lit up the Ohio nightclubs

with his singing which were quite close

to his home sweet home as the saying

goes the harder you work work the

luckier you get Martin’s hard work paid

off when he sang with the Ernie McCay

Band Here Sammy Watkins a famous band

leader from Cleveland spotted his talent

seeing Martin’s unique voice and charm

Sammy offered him the coveted position

of the main singer in his band from then

on Martin’s life took a turn as he

packed his bags to travel with Watkins

on tours in

1938 by 1940 he decided to add more

Sparkle to his Persona and changed his

name to Dean Martin like a leaf dancing

to the Rhythm Of The Wind Martin always

pursued New Opportunities and

experiments when opportunity knocks on

your door always be willing to take a

chance Martin must have thought when he

signed a special contract with MCA in

September

1943 he was to entertain the guests at

the Rio bambba room in New York with his

melodious voice he truly believed in the

saying with great power comes great

responsibility and did Justice to his

contract by doing wonderfully well then

in

1944 he got his very own radio show it

was a 15minute segment called songs by

Dean Martin and was broadcast from the

city that never sleeps New York City in

1946 a golden opportunity knocked on

Martin’s door again setting his eyes on

the horizon he signed another

contract this time it was with diamond

records he recorded four songs as the

contract guided as he sang those songs

he must have remembered the age-old

proverb Where words fail music speaks

his voice and meaningful lyrics surely

left an everlasting impact on the

listeners great things in life are never

done alone they’re done in

teams so let’s take a trip down memory

lane to

1946 a certain guy named Martin was

performing at a club meeting this is

where Jerry Lewis entered the picture

picture this Martin and Lewis two peas

in a pod having fun while performing

their acts on stage both of them got

along like a house on fire so they

thought why not join

hands thus in the grand year of

1947 they decided to team up it was like

magic Martin played the sensible calm

guy while Lewis played the funny goofy

guy they were like two sides of the same

coin then came

1949 a year to remember can you guess

why sometimes the smallest step in the

right direction can end up being the

biggest step of your life this year

marked the start of their 30-minute

radio program on NBC it was a hit people

loved it you see their secret is

persistence and

perspiration their success story didn’t

end there in 1950 they appeared on your

home screens the Colgate Comedy Hour

that’s right they were now popular not

just on the radio but also on television

don’t wait for the perfect moment create

it and that’s what they did between 1949

and

1956 this dynamic duo rocked the film

industry too they made a whopping 16

films together talk about being busy

bees success usually comes to those too

busy to look for it so the story of

Martin and Lewis teaches us that

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

despite their different personalities

they managed to create something

beautiful together time has a wonderful

way of showing us what really

matters in New York Martin and Lewis

graced the stage of the Copa Cabana for

the last time on July 24th

1956 this marked the end of an eventful

Journey that had lasted a full decade as

they decided to part ways owing to

disagreements on their creative process

every path has its puddles as they say

Neil Daniels an author known for writing

life stories of famous people likened

the Duo’s partnership to a marriage he

shares that the sudden breakup of Martin

and Lewis took the fans aback it was as

if they were witnessing an unexpected

split between a deeply in love couple

fans had imagined this amusing Duo

weaving their magic forever which made

the separation even more

surprising life is what happens when

you’re busy making other plans striding

ahead alone Martin got back to his roots

as a singer soon he was enchanting the

world again with his beautiful voice

recording hit songs like that’s am

memories are made of this when you’re

smiling and oh Marie under the

prestigious label Capital simultaneously

he returned to the world of acting with

renewed Vigor they say create a stir and

then disappear and so did Martin in 1958

Martin created a stir in the cinema

world he acted alongside prominent

actors Montgomery Clift and Marlon

Brando in the film the Young Lions and

his remarkable performance received

glowing reviews so while Martin and

Lewis’s Journey ends Martin’s story is

far from over remember every end is a

new beginning Martin surely knew how to

start

over Martin started his journey in the

magical city of Las Vegas he had a

handful of friends from a group known

for their fun and excitement called The

Rat Pack can you guess who was part of

this exciting group it included Martin

the super cool Frank Sinatra the Lively

Sammy Davis Jr the funny Joey Bishop and

the Charming Peter Lawford this gang was

like the popular kids in school living a

roller coaster life full of cheer games

joy and the twinkling lights of Vegas

their Adventure didn’t just stop in

Vegas they decided to explore new places

and jump onto the big screen much like

our favorite cartoons The Rat Pack like

a team of superheroes starred together

in a fun action movie called Oceans 11

in 196

but their superhero exploits didn’t stop

there they went on to join forces again

in sergeants 3 and Robin and the Seven

hoods like the saying friends who play

together Stay Together did you know

Martin was part of 51 fantastic movie

adventures in his life we have our

favorite stories and books which we read

over and over again people loved

watching Martin’s movies

he played in films like some came

running with Shirley mlan and Sinatra

Bells Are Ringing with Judy holiday Rio

Bravo with John Wayne Toys in the Attic

airport Cannonball Run and Cannonball

Run 2 like how we enjoy playing

different games daily on the playground

Martin loved exploring different stories

and roles in his movies even if it was

Vegas’s Glitz or the world of movies

Martin and his friends truly lived their

dreams in 1962 Martin packed his music

tools and waved goodbye to Capital

Records he decided to join hands with

reprise two years later in

1964 he made a record that became

everyone’s favorite it was called

everybody loves somebody guess what it

was so popular that it surpassed The

Beatles becoming the number one song in

America for an entire week it’s like

winning a gold medal in the Olympics of

Music this popular song later became the

signature tune for his TV show The Dean

Martin Show which aired on NBC for eight

years starting in

1965 Benjamin Franklin once said Well

Done is better than well said Martin

proved it true by following up with his

next venture the Dean Martin Comedy Hour

this transition was smooth as melted

chocolate running successfully from

1973 to

1974 here’s a fun fact for you Martin

was famous for pretending to be a funny

drunk person on this show but it was all

pretend yes many viewers didn’t even

realize this it was like he was playing

a game of make believe and the audience

was in on it Martin loved to make

light-hearted jokes about his pretend

love for alcohol one of his memorable

jokes was I feel sorry for people who

don’t drink they wake up in the morning

and that’s the best they will feel all

day it reminds me of a saying every man

is a fool for at least 5 minutes daily

wisdom consists in not exceeding that

limit love is the master key that opens

the gates of Happiness Martin found this

happiness not once not twice but three

times times on October 2nd

1941 Martin walked down the aisle with

his first wife Elizabeth an McDonald

they started a family and were blessed

with four beautiful children their

eldest son Steven who friends called

Craig entered the world on June 29th

1942 then came their daughter Claudia

born on a sunny day March 16th

1944 their third third child a sweet

girl they named Barbara but loved to

call Gail was born on April 11th 1947

1,945 and then there was their youngest

Diana affectionately known as Dina who

was born on August 19th

1948 indeed after his first journey of

Love Martin started another one with

Jean beager on September 1st

1949 together together they brought

three more children into the world Dino

Paul Jr their first child was born on

November 17th

1951 the adorable reachi James followed

on September 20th

1953 finally the lovely Gina Caroline

greeted the world on December 20th

1957

1956 but as the old wisdom goes life is

like riding a bicycle to to keep your

balance you must keep moving and Martin

did just that in

1973 he married his third wife Katherine

May Han together they adopted a sweet

little girl named

Sasha however life is unpredictable and

Martin’s marriage to Han ended in

1976 that’s Martin’s journey of love and

family remember family is not important

it’s

everything it was a black day for Martin

when a terrible Thunderbolt struck his

little boy Dino Jr was on a plane that

crashed during a military training

exercise in

1987 there are some things in life you

can never truly get over and losing a

child is undoubtedly one of them after

this heartbreaking incident Martin took

a bow from Show Business after a 19 1988

to 889 concert tour the tour was

alongside his Rat Pack Pals Davis Jr and

Sinatra but things took another

unfortunate turn as he fell sick and had

to step back from the tour taking his

place instead was Liza Manelli who

finished the tour Christmas morning in

1995 came with sad news Martin had

breathed his last being 78 years of age

he had succumbed to severe respiratory

failure in Beverly Hills

California every sunset gives us one

less day to live but every Sunrise gives

us one more day to

hope now he shines down on us from the

stars above today Martin’s name Rings

Bells as a legendary performer on both

screen and Stage legends never die they

become a part of you Martin is best

known for his hilarious Duo act with

Lewis and for being a part of the iconic

Rat Pack Ernest Borgnine speaks up about

Dean Martin in case you don’t know about

Ernest Borgnine born as the son of

Italian immigrants borgnino had an

adventurous childhood Journey he lived

in the beautiful Northern parts of Italy

with his mom for 2 years before moving

back to Connecticut once back they felt

it was time to change and decided to

change their family name to Borg nine

after finishing High School in

1935 Borg nine decided to serve his

country answering the call of the US

Navy the only way to do great work is to

love what you do and Borgnine truly

loved his time in the Navy his

dedication and hard work saw him serving

six years and he didn’t stop there when

the United States entered World War II

Borgnine didn’t hesitate to Reen list

working his way up to become a Gunner’s

mate first class before his discharge in

1945 once he returned to civilian life

he wasn’t quite certain where his path

would lead remember the saying when one

door closes another opens that’s exactly

what happened to borg9 his mom suggested

he pursue acting not one to turn down a

good opportunity borg9 seized on the GI

bill this wonderful F 1944 legislation

offered benefits to War veterans

Borgnine used it to study for 6 months

at the renowned Randall School in

Hartford Connecticut in 1946 he joined

the barter theater in Abington Virginia

starting out behind the scenes the old

saying goes every artist was first an

amateur Borgnine proved this true

working his way from backstage to

starring in over a dozen theater

Productions in 1949 Borg nine first

stepped onto Broadway delighting us in a

comedy called Harvey thanks to that he

got to do even more work on stage and

began to appear on this magical box we

call the television his journey then

took him to the world of films where he

first played a boss at a factory in a

movie called The Whistle at Eaton Falls

in

1951 but it was his role as fat o Judson

a rather rough Jailer in the military

drama From Here to Eternity that really

made people sit up and take notice

variety is the spice of life after that

Borgnine played many different roles in

several famous films he appeared in

western movies like Johnny Guitar and

Vera Cruz and in a thrilling Drama Bad

Day at Black Rock all these characters

he played were pretty scary and tough

but then in

1955 something special happened the

world is full of magic things waiting

for our senses to grow

sharper Borgnine starred in a romantic

drama called Marty this story was

originally shown on television and

written by Patty chvi but this time he

played a very different character

instead of being menacing or scary he

was a lonely kind-hearted butcher

this unexpected performance won him

praise and even the Academy Award for

the best actor life is what happens when

we’re busy making other plans borgnine’s

Journey from his Broadway debut to

winning the Oscar shows us that life can

take unexpected turns and those

surprises can be really really

wonderful coming back to the topic

Ernest said that one day after he was

done performing a scene another popular

actor Dean Martin came forward and told

the audience you see that’s what a real

actor looks like can you imagine how

warmly Ernest must have felt hearing

that especially from an actor like Dean

Martin as the saying goes a kind word

can warm three winter

months Ernest talked about how much he

admired Dean Martin recounting how his

simple words had an incredible impact on

him

kind words can touch a strong heart like

how A Gentle Wind can sway a sturdy tree

He also mentioned another great

personality Frank

Sinatra both Dean and Frank were

absolutely wonderful people according to

Ernest now sometimes people can say

unkind things about others some would

say Frank Sinatra was a troublemaker

liked to argue and always indulged in

drinks but ER Nest disagreed he believed

them to be genuine people Ernest told of

an incident about Frank that will surely

inspire you there was an actor named Lee

J Cobb who was sadly very sick and in

the hospital one day an ambulance came

to pick him up but nobody knew where it

was taking him as worried as Lee might

have been he was told not to worry about

anything not even about the money to his

surprise Lee found himself at Frank

Sinatra’s place in Palm Springs when

Frank finally met Lee Lee asked him why

Frank had done all this for him Frank’s

answer was simple and touching I like

the way you act it just goes to show a

good act does not wash out the bad nor a

bad act the good each should have its

own reward so whether through a few

simple encouraging words from Dean

Martin or an Incredible Act of

generosity from Frank Sinatra these

moments underline the importance of

uplifting those around us right please
