The stars of My Life With the Walter Boys reveal their reactions to season 2’s shocking finale, where Jackie unexpectedly chose Cole over Alex despite rekindling with Alex earlier, sparking emotional fan debates and setting up an intense, drama-filled season 3 that promises heartbreak, growth, and plenty of surprises.
The emotional rollercoaster that is My Life With the Walter Boys just got even more intense.
The hit Netflix teen drama wrapped up its second season with a finale that left fans stunned, frustrated, and already begging for more.
At the heart of the drama was Jackie Howard, played by Nikki Rodriguez, whose romantic entanglement with the Walter brothers Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde) has fueled passionate debates across social media since the show premiered.
But in the season 2 closer, Jackie’s decision took the story in an unexpected direction, one that could change everything for the Walter family in season 3.
Season 2, which dropped on Netflix earlier this month, built up the classic love triangle between Jackie, the grieving New York transplant adjusting to life in rural Colorado, and the two polar opposite Walter brothers: Alex, the sweet, dependable, boy-next-door type, and Cole, the reckless, charming troublemaker with a vulnerable side.
After reconnecting with Alex and seemingly choosing him in the penultimate episode, Jackie shocked viewers by ending up with Cole in the finale—a twist that reignited fierce fan debates about who she really belongs with.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight’s Rachel Smith, Rodriguez admitted that the storyline surprised even her when she first read the scripts.
“I knew there was going to be a big decision, but I didn’t know how fans would react,” she said.
“I love both Alex and Cole in very different ways, so stepping into Jackie’s shoes meant understanding how complicated love can be.
It’s not about picking the ‘right’ brother—it’s about following her heart in that moment.”
Ashby Gentry, who plays Alex, acknowledged that the ending was tough for Team Alex fans.
“It stings, for sure,” Gentry admitted.
“But Alex has always been that steady presence, and I think people who connect with him understand that his story isn’t over.
Season 3 is going to explore how Alex handles heartbreak and what that means for his relationship with Jackie moving forward.”
Meanwhile, Noah LaLonde, whose portrayal of Cole has made him both a fan favorite and a divisive character, expressed excitement about what’s next.
“Cole is messy, but he’s real,” LaLonde explained.
“The finale shows that Jackie sees something in him worth holding onto, despite all the chaos.
That opens the door for a lot of growth—not just for Cole, but for their relationship.”
The cast was quick to point out that while the love triangle is central to the plot, My Life With the Walter Boys is also about family, resilience, and finding your place in the world.
“At the end of the day, it’s about Jackie becoming part of this huge, chaotic family and learning what love and support look like in all its different forms,” Rodriguez noted.
“That’s why people connect to the show.
It’s not just about who she ends up with—it’s about the journey.”
Filming for season 3 is already underway, with cast members teasing that the new episodes will dig deeper into the aftermath of Jackie’s choice, while also giving more spotlight to the other Walter siblings and their personal stories.
LaLonde hinted that fans can expect “some unexpected alliances and some pretty emotional twists,” while Gentry promised “plenty of moments that will make you scream at your TV—in a good way.”
The actors also took time to reflect on the passionate fanbase that has grown around the series.
Since its debut, My Life With the Walter Boys has inspired endless TikTok edits, Twitter debates, and even fanfiction, with viewers fiercely divided into #TeamAlex and #TeamCole.
“It’s wild, honestly,” Rodriguez said with a laugh.
“We see the memes, the arguments, the theories—it’s amazing to know people care so much about these characters.
It feels like we’re all part of this big family.”
Behind the scenes, the trio described their bond as just as strong as their characters’ onscreen connections.
“We really are like siblings at this point,” Gentry said.
“We spend so much time together, and that closeness shows up on camera.” Rodriguez added, “Filming these intense emotional scenes is only possible because we trust each other so much.
It feels like a safe space, and I think fans can sense that authenticity.”
With Netflix already confirming the show’s continuation, expectations for season 3 are sky-high.
Fans are eager to see whether Jackie’s choice will hold, or if her heart will once again lead her back to Alex.
And with other Walter siblings stepping into bigger roles, the drama promises to expand beyond just the central triangle.
For now, Rodriguez, Gentry, and LaLonde are embracing the chaos and the conversation.
“We’re just as excited as the fans,” LaLonde said. “It’s going to be a wild ride.”
And if season 2’s ending proved anything, it’s that in My Life With the Walter Boys, nothing is ever simple when it comes to love, family, and the choices that define who we are.
