In a heartfelt revelation on the July 30, 2025 episode of The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast, Lydia Plath shared how she and her husband Zac Wyse chose to wait until their wedding day for their first kiss, a decision rooted in their mutual desire for meaningful intimacy that deepened their emotional connection and respect for one another.
In a heartfelt discussion on the July 30, 2025 episode of The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast, Lydia Plath and her husband, Zac Wyse, opened up about their unique decision to wait until their wedding day for their first kiss, a choice that has profoundly influenced their relationship.
The couple, who tied the knot in February 2025 after six months of dating, shared their emotional journey and the significance of saving physical intimacy for marriage.
Reflecting on the night Zac asked Lydia to be his girlfriend, she recounted how he introduced the idea of waiting for their first kiss.
“Zac was just like, ‘This is really random and this is not something I’ve ever thought about, but I just keep feeling this unction from the Holy Spirit to just ask you what you’d think about saving our first kiss for our wedding day,’” Lydia explained.
“I was just shocked in my seat because it’s something that I had wanted, but I didn’t want it to be a legalistic thing.”
Lydia emphasized that she didn’t bring up the topic first because she wanted Zac to initiate it, believing that if he was to lead their relationship, he needed to have that desire in his heart.
“I wanted him to initiate it because it was in his heart,” she said, adding, “So when he said that, I was just like, ‘Funny you ask.’”
This moment marked the beginning of their commitment to each other, rooted in mutual respect and intentionality.
Zac, who is known for his thoughtful approach to relationships, clarified that his initial suggestion wasn’t meant to be overly serious.
“It wasn’t something serious when I first asked Plath to wait for our first kiss,” he said. “I want it to mean something; I want it to have purpose.”
This desire for a meaningful connection led him to propose the idea, which he had been contemplating for some time due to the purity he felt in Lydia’s presence.
Despite their shared vision, the couple took a few days to ensure they were ready to make this commitment.
“We both had our first kiss in previous relationships,” Zac noted, acknowledging that their choice was rooted in a deeper understanding of their feelings for each other. “This is different.
There’s a purity about her. There’s an honoring I want to have towards her that leads me to keep thinking about this.”
As they navigated their relationship without physical intimacy, Lydia and Zac discovered the beauty of building trust through alternative forms of connection.
“There’s such a beauty about it in respecting the other,” Zac explained. “It truly is a great physical boundary.”
They found joy in engaging in activities that fostered their bond without crossing physical lines, such as dancing, running around, and enjoying each other’s company in playful ways.
Lydia added that their decision allowed them to get to know each other on a deeper level. “We experienced so much joy in not kissing while we dated,” she said, highlighting how their relationship flourished in the absence of physical distractions.
“We got to enjoy different moments together because we weren’t falling into different physical things.”
The couple acknowledged that many people who choose to withhold physical intimacy often find themselves rushing into intimacy after marriage.
However, they felt their approach was different, emphasizing the importance of building a solid foundation based on trust and understanding.
“It was interesting to find the alternatives in it,” Zac shared, reinforcing that their relationship thrived on mutual respect and intentional choices.
As they discussed their journey, Lydia and Zac inspired listeners with their commitment to honoring each other’s boundaries and prioritizing emotional connection over physical intimacy.
Their story serves as a testament to the power of love and the beauty of waiting for the right moment to express affection.
With their wedding day now behind them, Lydia and Zac are excited to embark on the next chapter of their lives, filled with love, trust, and the joy of sharing their first kiss as a married couple.
Their experience resonates with many, encouraging others to consider the deeper meanings of love and commitment in their own relationships.
As they continue to share their journey, Lydia and Zac Wyse remind us all that sometimes, the most profound connections are built on patience, respect, and a shared vision for the future.
