Mount Mayon Erupts: A Volcano’s Wrath Unleashed in the Philippines

Since January 1, 2026, approximately 346 rockfall events have been recorded in just the first five days, compared to 599 events during the entire two-month period of November and December 2025.

Tedito Bakulko, the director of PHIVOLCS, reported that rockfall events last between one and five minutes, with debris traveling up to one kilometer down the southern upper slopes.
