🔥 Left Eye Gave Erick Sermon a Savage Ultimatum: “If 2Pac Wants Me… I’m Leaving You!” 😱💔
When Erick Sermon got involved with Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, he wasn’t just signing up for late-night phone calls and studio vibes.
He was stepping into a hurricane.
In a recent interview on the Rock the Bells cruise, hosted by Too $hort, Sermon let fans in on a personal chapter that’s been buried under decades of hip-hop legend: Left Eye once threatened to leave him for
Tupac—and meant every word.
“She gave me an ultimatum,” Sermon recalled.
“I was laughing my ass off because I only had $1,000 on my American Express card.
She said, ‘Eric, when I go to the award show and Tupac hollers at me and wants me, I got to leave you.
’” Read that again.
She wasn’t asking.
She was telling.
At the time, Sermon wasn’t just worried about his relationship.
He was broke and more concerned about having a place to sleep.
“I ain’t have a place to go,” he admitted.
“I was worried about the room.
” And just like that, a rap icon was living on the edge—not just professionally, but personally, with his heart hanging in the balance.
The story might sound outrageous, but it lines up with what we know about Left Eye.
In a resurfaced 2015 interview with This Is 50, Sermon explained their dynamic further: “Yo, that was the best ever.
I didn’t know that Tupac and Left Eye used to kick it.
She was crazy in love with him.
” He went on to say that most people in the industry probably knew it too—including the rest of TLC.
“Alisa was a pure one,” he continued.
“She was the realest chick I ever met.
Did what she wanted to do.
She’d let you know what time it was—period.
” And no, he wasn’t exaggerating.
When Left Eye loved someone, she went all in—even if it meant walking away from someone else.
In the Lifetime docuseries Hopelessly in Love, which dissected Left Eye’s complicated romance with NFL star Andre Rison, her friends confirmed what Sermon hinted at.
They said that Left Eye and Tupac had a “strong connection”—the kind of soul link where they could finish each other’s sentences.
One friend even said: “I think Andre knew that Tupac was his competition.
” Let that sink in—Andre freaking Rison, a football superstar, felt threatened.
And for good reason.
Because when Tupac entered the room, everything changed.
Even other celebrities got humbled.
Just ask Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas.
In a wild and hilarious story shared on the All the Smoke podcast, Taboo recalled how 2Pac once stole Apple D App’s girlfriend at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles—right in front of him.
According to Taboo, the girl was stunning.
Young, Puerto Rican, radiant.
“Tupac did like this,” he said, mimicking a head nod.
“It was over.
” She excused herself and never came back.
Apple D App sat there—his chicken cold, the syrup congealed, the butter liquified.
Tupac didn’t say a word.
He didn’t need to.
That same Tupac—charismatic, magnetic, dominant—was exactly who Left Eye was talking about when she gave Erick Sermon that ultimatum.
She wasn’t playing.
If 2Pac wanted her, she was out.
Simple.
For Sermon, it was a moment that combined heartbreak, humility, and hilarity.
“I only had $1,000 on the American Express,” he laughed.
“So yeah, I was worried… but mostly about where I’d sleep.”
But make no mistake—this wasn’t a joke at the time.
It was a serious turning point.
Sermon may have been laughing on the outside, but deep down, he was watching one of hip-hop’s most electric women mentally drift toward a man nobody could compete with.
Because the truth is, you didn’t say no to Tupac.
Not in the ‘90s.
Not ever.
And Lisa? She was already drawn to danger.
Her relationship with Andre Rison was chaotic—violence, public outbursts, and even that infamous house fire.
But with Tupac, it wasn’t toxic.
It was cosmic.
They were kindred spirits—both wild, both poetic, both misunderstood.
It was the kind of bond that didn’t need labels.
They didn’t have to “date” in a traditional sense.
The energy was just there.
Heavy.
Real.
Even Sermon admitted that he was blindsided.
“I thought anybody knew that,” he said, referencing Left Eye and Tupac’s connection.
“She used to be crazy in love with him.
” According to those close to Left Eye, she always kept it 100.
She didn’t hide how she felt.
If she told Sermon Pac was her type, she meant it.
What’s most haunting about all this is how it ends.
Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes tragically died in a car crash in 2002 in Honduras while on a spiritual retreat.
Tupac, of course, was murdered in 1996.
And while the world never got to fully understand what could’ve been between the two of them, those who knew them best say the connection was unforgettable.
Erick Sermon may have laughed off the ultimatum, but he knew it was real.
He knew he could’ve lost her at any moment.
And when he tells the story now, decades later, you can still hear the disbelief in his voice—Did she really say that to me? Yes.
She did.
Because Lisa Lopes wasn’t like anyone else.
She wasn’t afraid to say what she felt.
And when it came to Tupac? There were no blurred lines.
He was the one.
So the next time someone tells you hip-hop beef is all about diss tracks and clout chases, remind them: Sometimes the most savage battles happen behind closed doors—in whispered ultimatums and the threat of
lost love to legends who could steal your girl with a nod across the room.
Tupac didn’t just change music—he changed lives.
He changed relationships.
He stole hearts.
And sometimes, he didn’t even have to ask.
