Woman Orders Fiancé ‘Entertainment He Can Touch’ for His Bachelor Party — He’s Shocked by What Arrives
Five furry, feathery and scaly creatures crashed the party
Several animals make surprise appearance at bachelor party.
A groom-to-be was surprised by some unexpected bachelor party guests.
Stephanie Chan, 27, wanted to make her fiancé’s bachelor party on April 12 in San Diego, Calif., extra special, so she told him that she ordered “entertainment” that he and his seven groomsmen could “touch.”
While some men’s minds might have immediately assumed strippers, Chan’s fiancé, 28, whose name is omitted for privacy reasons, is “obsessed with animals,” so “that was definitely his first guess.”.
He was right!

Chan tells PEOPLE that she partnered with California-based wildlife sanctuary Critter Encounters to bring a number of different animals — two opossums, one raccoon, one owl and one tegu — to the house party for the men to take part in interactive encounters.
“He was thrilled!” Chan says of her fiancé’s reaction to the five animals. “It really brought out his inner child.”.
The groomsmen also “really enjoyed the animals,” with the raccoon and opossums being the favorite critters of the night.

“[My fiancé] adores opossums,” Chan tells PEOPLE. “He was so excited to see the animals — we had actually been looking around the neighborhood for opossums at night just a few weeks earlier.”.
The “meaningful and unforgettable experience” allowed the men to hold, pet and feed some of the animals.
In California, individuals must possess a permit to touch or handle owls, so the owl could not be pet by the partygoers, but the group still enjoyed looking at and learning about the wide-eyed bird.
The men praised Critter Encounters for hosting a “wonderful” experience.
The nonprofit organization raises awareness of local and global animals and ecosystems, and rescues animals that cannot be released into the wild due to injury or disability.

Chan is especially thankful for CEO, President, and Director of Critter Encounters Andrea Burgan for being “incredibly accommodating and easy to work with.”.
The handler, Connor, was also “super nice and on time.”.
Because Chan’s fiancé is “incredibly sweet and has always cared deeply about animals,” it was a no-brainer for the bride-to-be to incorporate animals into his party.
Plus, he had previously surprised her on her bachelorette trip in the South of France by sending a bottle of champagne and “the largest bouquet of flowers [she] had ever seen” to her room, so she wanted to “return the favor.”.
“He went vegetarian over five years ago for ethical reasons and often sends me reels or TikToks of his favorite animals,” she says. “Every few months he falls in love with a new animal — two months ago it was opossums!”
“As a joke, he texted me, ‘You know what would be a nice surprise for me and the groomsmen?
If when we arrive at the house, you have left us opossums. One each to hold and feed and play with,’ ” Chan continues.
“I Googled ‘Possum petting zoo San Diego’ and soon found Critter Encounters and started working on the surprise.”.
Not long after the party, Chan posted videos and photos from the animal interactions on TikTok.
“He was told entertainment that he can touch is coming at 9 pm for his bachelor party 😉,” Chan captioned a post with nearly 950,000 views and more than 160,000 likes.

She continued to note that the “surprise bachelor party activity was organized with @Critter Encounters — a San Diego, California based wildlife sanctuary that uses funds to care for rescued, non-releasable animals 🩵 All animals are fully vetted, rabies-free and handled by trained pros.”.
Commenters pointed out that Chan’s fiancé, whom she will marry on May 10 in Southern California, expressed “pure joy” while holding the animals.
“Him laying on the floor with the lizard is taking us out 😂,” wrote Brilliant Earth, a jewelry company specializing in engagement rings and wedding bands.
“Folks don’t hate, the memo did say ✨ WILD night ✨,” another commenter joked.
