Veteran actor Robert de Niro challenged Sharon Stone during the most intense shooting of Casino.

During the shooting of the 1995 film, De Niro and Sharon Stone sat at a table where their characters had to talk.

The Basic Instinct star revealed during an interview with Business Insider that the scene involved her and De Niro having an intense back-and-forth.

However, during those takes, Robert De Niro complimented the actress for her acting skills, which set off something within her.

There’s a scene in the movie where we’re sitting across a table arguing, and he says to me, ‘You’re a good actress, you know that?’

She continued,

And I remember in that scene when he said it, how furious it made me because it was my dream to do it, and then he challenged me at the table. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, you crossed a line today, mister.’

Stone revealed that it was her dream to act in front of Robert De Niro and hold her own. However, with De Niro complimenting her acting skills, Sharon Stone felt that De Niro was indeed the powerful and observant star that people called him to be.

He knew every button to go for with me because he is the greatest observational actor. He can crawl under your skin and get in there,

It paid off beautifully in the end since Sharon Stone and Robert De Niro had to get riled up in order to have that perfect argument scene.

The actress also earned an Oscar nomination for “Best Actress in a Leading Role” for Casino.

Being typecast in Hollywood for years following her seductive role in Basic Instinct, Stone had no interest in portraying the role of a villain now.

However, that changed when she was offered a role in Bob Odenkirk’s recently released Nobody 2.

Sharon Stone has become relevant again in mainstream media following her role in Nobody 2, which is deemed as antagonistic.

However, there was a time when she was considering rejecting the film.

As the interview continued, Stone revealed that she didn’t want to play a cookie-cutter villain.

However, she started loving the character and felt that she wouldn’t be portraying just another cookie-cutter villain in Nobody 2.

I just don’t want to play a cookie-cutter villain, which is something that I really have a thing about. But that was not cookie-cutter; it was a villain that touched upon the zeitgeist of the moment.

With Stone returning to Hollywood, years after being typecast as a femme fatale, it seems a good opportunity as any to retell her story and remove the sultry-seductive look that has been haunting her career for years.

The actress could potentially return to the Basic Instinct franchise, but being a modern retelling/reboot would mean that she would have more creative control over the things that go on screen.

According to IndieWire, Basic Instinct currently has a retelling in development over at Amazon MGM Studios. Although screenwriter Joe Eszterhas has claimed that the movie will be “a wild and orgasmic ride” from start to finish.

However, what this does is provide an opportunity for Sharon Stone to involve herself in the project and portray a role in a wildly different way.

Being an experienced star now, Stone can have the necessary inputs and have her way with the film, something that she might not have had while shooting the 1992 movie.

Of course, it remains speculative whether Stone would like to associate herself with the project, but it would be a good way for Stone to revisit the classic that made her famous.
