The poor reception of Horizon: An American Saga has taken a toll on Kevin Costner.

Kevin Costner’s talents have taken him all over Hollywood.

While he is best known for his acting skills in projects like Yellowstone and Bodyguard, he has a lot of talent in various other pursuits.

Most notably, he has a great reputation as a director.

When one spends a significant amount of time with the best directors Hollywood has to offer, they learn a thing or two, and it would seem that Costner learned a lot more than that.

His directorial debut, the 1990 classic, Dances with Wolves, earned a total of seven Oscars and twelve nominations.

Knowing this, one would expect his recent passion project, The Horizon Saga, to follow similar patterns.

However, it is doing quite the opposite, and Costner does not seem happy about it in the slightest.

Kevin Costner Has Lost His Light

Ever since Horizon: An American Saga was released in theaters, it has been difficult to avoid its negative reviews.

Even though it famously earned Kevin Costner a seven-minute standing ovation at the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival, fans seem to hold different feelings towards the film compared to the critics.

It is safe to say that no one would be in a good place if their passion project miserably flopped.

Recently, a source close to Costner revealed the director’s state of mind in an interview with Life & Style after the mishap, and it does not sound promising.

He’s no fun anymore, the joy and the spring has gone out of step,

He’s putting on this bravado and coming up with all these excuses why Hollywood is not on his side but he’s becoming misery guts to everyone, and the pity party just never ends.

They revealed that Costner is wallowing in pity, feeling sorry for himself after his film got rejected by Hollywood as a whole.

While his feelings are valid, the source paints a picture of a man who is stuck in an endless cycle of shame and sadness, which is extremely counterproductive.

They even went as far as to say that Costner has become bad company amid his crisis.

Kevin Costner Doesn’t Want to Stop

The source then went on to talk about Costner’s lifestyle.

The actor is known for being a busy man.

He has been moving from one set to another and is so dedicated to his craft that he could not star in Yellowstone because of prior commitments, among several other reasons.

While many would praise him for such dedication, it seems to now be eating away at him.

He complains about working hard and wanting to carve out time off, but he doesn’t do it, and the tired beat just goes on,
