Johnny Depp’s Upcoming Movies: Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is on the Card?

Johnny Depp’s movie slate from 2025–2027 teases a major comeback—and yes, Pirates of the Caribbean 6 might just be on the horizon.

His life and career may have met a significant downfall over the recent years, but Johnny Depp is very much back to turn the tables and mesmerize his audiences to the core – both with his exceptional acting chops as well as his impeccable charms.

For one, he is all set to return to the screens with quite a few projects lined up.

Though he is renowned for his Jack Sparrow role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, that very Disney saga left him alone during his messy divorce with Amber Heard.

This had him pledging that he wouldn’t return to the lore, no matter what.

But rumors have sprung up once again, with sources pulling fans’ hopes up about his return in the next installment of the film series.

Of course, official confirmation of the same remains to be seen.

Nonetheless, in the meantime, the actor still has tons of other projects lined up for him, set to release between 2025 to 2027, per @TehranKnight on X.

That said, here’s a look at the same, including both officially confirmed ones as well as reported ones, with and without titles.

Dig in!

One of Johnny Depp’s upcoming pieces is The Carnival at the End of Days.

The movie is currently in development, being helmed by Terry Gilliam from a script by Christopher Brett Bailey and Gilliam himself.

The plot of the flick will reportedly feature God wanting to wipe out humanity after being disappointed with what has gone down on planet earth.

But, in a twisted turn of events, Satan will be the only one wanting to save them.

And he ends up convincing God that the two young people he has found are the new Adam and Eve (via IMDb).

A comedy-fantasy, the film features a pretty star-studded cast besides Depp, too, who is said to be playing Satan.

These other cast members reportedly include the likes of Jason Momoa, Adam Driver, and Jeff Bridges, alongside Asa Butterfield, Emma Laird, and Tom Waits.

The release date of the same is yet to be announced.

Day Drinker

Another one of Depp’s forthcoming projects includes Day Drinker.

A thriller currently in development, the movie is reportedly being directed by Marc Webb from a script by writer Zach Dean.

Per IMDb, the official synopsis of the same reveals that the film will circle the life of an enigmatic stranger, who forms an unlikely bond with a grieving bartender who lost her lover.

Eventually, their lives end up intertwining in the most unexpected ways.

Furthermore, as per a statement from Lionsgate, reported by PEOPLE, the said movie will reportedly follow “a cruise ship bartender” and “a mysterious day drinker” who “find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly, and connected in unexpected ways.”

The top cast is said to be rather brilliant as well.

Besides Depp, it reportedly includes Madelyn Cline, Penélope Cruz, and Webb.

Also joining them will be Manu Rios, Javier Botet, Aron Piper, Juan Diego Botto, and Anika Boyle, for now.

The official release date hasn’t been unveiled, as of yet.

The next one lined up is reportedly a documentary, titled Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires.

Directed by Daniel E.Catullo, its cast is currently set to feature quite a lot of talents, including Johnny Depp, all as their own selves.

Per the official website unleashedspirits.com, this documentary “is an exhilarating and heartfelt film that takes viewers on a captivating journey through the formation of the iconic band, Hollywood Vampires, and the profound impact they’ve had on their devoted fan base.”.

The trailer for the same has been released as well, available to watch on the official website.

This upcoming project will reportedly star Paul McCartney, Alice Cooper, Duff McKagan, Joe Perry, Robby Krieger, Matt Sorum, Matt Pinfield, Paul Geary, Robert DeLeo, Robert Ezrin, Ernie Boch Jr., Tommy Henriksen, Glen Sobel, Chris Wyse, Steve Wood, and Buck Johnson.

The same is yet to get an official release date.

As of now, there remains to come official confirmation from Johnny Depp and Disney themselves if the actor will indeed be hopping onboard the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 ship.

Amidst all the rumors and speculation surrounding the same, in the meanwhile, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s recent comments inevitably add fuel to that fire.

Talking to ScreenRant, the producer said about the sixth installment in the POTC film series:

We’re working on a screenplay.

Hopefully we’ll get it right — and then we’ll make it.

We really want to make it, that’s for sure… It’ll be a new take on it… Well, not all new actors.

We’ll have some back.

I’m not going to tell you which ones — you’ll have to guess.

Of course, this has more than just fueled the rumor and speculation mill, as everyone is busy trying to figure out if Depp’s iconic Captain Jack Sparrow will indeed return to the screens.

And yet, while all of it is signalling a possibility of the same happening, it remains to be officially known.

After all, a Pirates movie without Depp would inevitably feel like it’s missing one of its main, core elements – a move that certainly won’t be appreciated by the fans.

Besides these, there’s also the reported Allen Hughes project.

According to @TehranKnight on X, Johnny Depp is reportedly set to star in an upcoming project with the filmmaker, though the same is yet to be officially announced.

This one doesn’t have much information revealed about it yet, either, so fans will have to wait on it.

Additionally, there are also two untitled projects for him to direct, both of which are yet to receive further confirmation and the release of their details.

Either way, these are reported by the source to be released in the 2025-27 window, so fans won’t have to wait that long either.
