Jennifer Lopez had an emotional reaction to remembering the time she performed at the Super Bowl with her teen Emme.
Speaking with CBS Sunday Morning on Sunday, Sept.
28, the singer discussed her new film The Kiss of the Spider-Woman with the outlet and explained that she was drawn to the movie because it covers many of the things she prioritizes in her own art — including a connection the queer community, which Lopez said is “very personal” and “close to my heart.”
Journalist Lee Cowan then asked Lopez if she realized how much her song “Let’s Get Loud” was going to resonate with the LGBTQ+ community when she wrote it.
“‘Let’s Get Loud’? Yeah, it’s funny.
You don’t always realize everything,” she began.
“When I decided to do the cages at the Super Bowl with all the little girls in it, all the little Latin girls in it, because of what politically was going on at that moment, I didn’t know if they were going to let that fly.”
“And they almost didn’t.
But we snuck it in,” Lopez continued.
“And using ‘Let’s Get Loud’ and ‘Born in the USA’ and all of that and making that statement.”
The actress and mom of two went on to say that singing that song in particular with Emme, who was 11 at the time, was by her side very meaningful to her.

“And singing that with my child there.
And them screaming that back to me.
‘Cause I’m going to live my life!’ ” Lopez said, getting emotional.
“That was one of the best moments of my life.
“Just to see them there and being so joyful and happy and being exactly who they were.
It was beautiful,” she added.

This past August, Lopez again got emotional as she dropped Emme off for their first day of senior year.
She shared a few snaps on her Instagram Stories and posted a throwback snap of her and the teen, saying that Emme will “always be my beautiful baby.”
“I just dropped off this little coconut to their first day of senior year.
Looking back at this photo from a few years ago, it just reminds me that they’ll always be my beautiful baby!” the proud mom sweetly wrote over the photo, adding four black heart emojis.
The Atlas star recently rounded up her summer getaway trip to the Hamptons on her Instagram, sharing a selfie with Emme.
The pair was joined by vocal coach Stevie Mackey as they sat in the backseat of the car, and the wind blew through their hair.
The post also featured several solo shots of Lopez, who wore white jeans and a cream hoodie, next to bikes.
The actress simply captioned the post, “Le Sunshine ☀️.”.
