But Gordon Ramsay showed off his softer side as he transformed into Mrs Doubtfire for an episode of MasterChef Junior in LA.

Donning the character’s signature wig, glasses and costume, the television personality, 51, looked the spitting image of the nanny made famous by Robin Williams- much to the amusement of the children.

Greeting the contestants, he said: ‘Hello dears. As you can see I’m a little older.’

To which, one contestant quipped: ‘And a girl’, while the others laughed hysterically.

Grappling his fake breasts, the TV chef continued: ‘I’m also a grandma guys.

I can’t remember if I’m supposed to do this alone, do we have another judge?’, prompting the children to call fellow judge Christine Tosi to enter the studio.

In true Mrs Doubtfire fashion, Gordon opted for a flowing red skirt, a white handbag and a pearl necklace, while he lined up next to his prosthetically enhanced hosts Christina Tosi and Joe Bastianich.

The clip, which has aired ahead of the series finale in two weeks time, comes after the renowned multi Michelin-starred chef, cheekily baited his meat-loving followers by posting a picture of a vegan pizza on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

He wrote underneath: ‘Going to give this vegan thing a try… Yes guys you heard that right.’

The Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and F Word star, who divides his time between LA and London, has been loudly critical of veganism over the years – which is why many of his followers were shocked that Ramsay is now eating plant-based food by choice.
