The two actors, who separated in 2016 after over a decade together, have been fighting in court for years.

Their legal battle, which involves the ownership and sale of their winery, has resurfaced.

In January 2025, Jolie filed a response to a lawsuit Pitt had filed.

The disagreement started when Pitt accused Jolie of violating an agreement related to the sale of her 50% stake in the winery.

This lawsuit has reignited tensions between the former couple, just weeks after settling their long divorce case.

According to InTouch Weekly, the legal conflict started when Brad Pitt claimed that Angelina Jolie had broken an agreement made during their marriage regarding the sale of Château Miraval.

After the divorce settlement, this issue started.

Reportedly, Pitt says they had agreed that neither of them would sell their shares in the winery without the other’s approval.

In 2021, however, Jolie decided to sell her 50% stake in Miraval, which the couple had originally purchased together.

Pitt claimed he had agreed to pay Jolie $55.4 million for her stake in the company. He offered a lump sum of $46 million and additional installments of $8.5 million.

But the deal fell through when Jolie rejected his offer. She chose to sell her stake to another company, Stoli, for $64 million. Pitt then filed a lawsuit, demanding that the sale be canceled.

In the lawsuit, Pitt also claimed that the new owners of the winery attempted a hostile takeover.

However, the new owners denied these allegations and filed a countersuit against him, accusing Pitt of misusing company funds.

In her response to Brad Pitt’s lawsuit, Angelina Jolie denied all of his accusations.

According to InTouch Weekly, her lawyer explained,

Jolie offered to sell Pitt her half-interest in Chateau Miraval.

As part of that sale, Jolie agreed to a common non-disparagement clause limited to not disparaging Miraval’s wine business.

If that sale had been completed, this lawsuit never would have happened. But at the last minute, Pitt ‘stepped back’ from his agreement to buy Jolie’s interest in Miraval, and the deal collapsed.

Reportedly, Jolie claims that Pitt’s change of heart was due to the documents she filed in 2021, accusing him of domestic violence.

These accusations, which were sealed at the time, were later made public.

Pitt’s lawyers claimed that he accepted responsibility for the things he did according to The New York Times.

Jolie further claims that Pitt demanded a new, broader non-disparagement clause that would cover his personal misconduct, including the abuse allegations. She also said,

Putting preservation of his career above all else, including over the needs of his family.

According to InTouch Weekly, she says Pitt’s actions, including his refusal to accept her terms, caused unnecessary stress for her and their children.

The court case continues, with both parties denying wrongdoing and each seeking a favorable outcome, even though Brad Pitt has other plans for revealing the full story.
