19 Years Later, Angelina Jolie Could Again Pay the Price For Sweeping Brad Pitt Off His Feet On Mr. & Mrs. Smith 

Brad Pitt and another Hollywood A-lister pose as major threats to Angelina Jolie’s Oscar nod for her role as Maria Callas in her latest film.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s marriage has been a mainstay in Hollywood gossip and drama lately, especially since the exes have been in talks for possibly winning themselves an Oscar next year for projects they’ve worked on recently.

Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment’s Nickel Boys, which featured themes of child abuse might get an Oscar nod based on the success it has experienced since its release.

Similarly, Jolie worked on a project based on the life of opera singer Maria Callas which has already given her a major head start in the race for Best Actress.

But the rumor mill suggests that Pitt might have something up his sleeve to slay Jolie’s Oscar dreams, something she’s worked extremely hard for this year.

This adds more drama to the existing court battle they’ve been in since 2016.

In 2004, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the set of the incredible spy movie we all love, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. While they both admitted that’s when they fell in love with each other, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston at the time, which makes the situation very controversial (via The New York Times, Glamour).

Based on what an insider revealed to In Touch, Aniston, who is now Pitt’s ex-wife could possibly seek revenge against Jolie at the Oscars next year, thus stripping away the latter’s best shot at winning an Academy Award after 25 years of working in the industry.

A source told the outlet,

Angie has some powerful friends too, but it’s Jen’s group that has been proven to be able to steer the course of the nomination process, which is exactly what they did two years ago.

The source was referring to Andrea Riseborough’s 2022 Oscar win for To Leslie which Aniston was allegedly involved in (via The Cut).

They also implied that Aniston has a group of extremely influential friends who would side with her through this situation.

The rumor mill also stated that Pitt might be trying to get Angelina Jolie out of the Oscar race by helping Nicole Kidman promote her latest film, Babygirl.

Right now, Kidman is the only competition that stands in Jolie’s way to win Best Actress for her role in Maria.

Angelina Jolie might be banking on Netflix to help heighten her chances of winning her first Oscar

According to In Touch, Netflix is preparing to make Angelina Jolie’s Maria available for online streaming. Obviously, based on the hype that the movie has already received, there’s probably a large group of fans waiting for it to be released on the streaming platform which in turn will boost the movie’s ratings through the roof.

As sad as it is, Netflix might be the only way Angie could tackle the threats that stand in her way, Pitt and Aniston’s friend circle. The source further added,

Netflix is going to be key here, because it means a lot of people all over the world are going to have instant access to Angie’s movie the second it is online… Is that widespread availability going to be able to compensate for Angelina’s haters lining up to keep her from winning an Oscar this season? We’re about to find out.

But Aniston’s influence on the industry is just as powerful as the 49-year-old Maleficent actress’ and it’ll still be an issue according to her team (via In Touch).

Though these are all rumors, it’s still a concerning situation for Jolie to be in, especially as she’s been battling it out with Pitt in court all these years.
