Kelly Clarkson has finally opened up about her relationship with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, revealing the real story behind their split.

She’s been extremely candid about the challenges of co-parenting, admitting that she “keeps a lot in” while juggling work and motherhood.

Kelly spoke recently on the “Not Gonna Lie” podcast with Kylie Kelce, describing the guilt she feels as a working mom when she misses her kids’ school events.

She highlighted the stark double standards between mothers and fathers, noting how society accepts a dad leaving early but criticizes moms in the same situation.

During the conversation, she emphasized it’s okay for her children to see her vulnerable, explaining therapy helped her realize it’s vital not to hide emotions from them.

Kelly reflected on her divorce journey too — she filed in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage and finalized it in March 2022.

She shares two children, River Rose (born June 2014) and Remington Alexander (born April 2016), with Brandon.

She also noted that co-parenting is “fun,” but there’s “a lot” she doesn’t say publicly — especially when Brandon can’t attend due to his schedule.

Clarkson praised therapy for teaching her that showing sadness or struggle in front of her kids can foster empathy in them.

She described motherhood as transformative — while it’s overwhelming at times, it’s also incredibly rewarding.

Encouraging new moms, she urged them to “be kind to yourselves” and to find humor even in the tough parenting moments.
