For decades, Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski were seen as one of Hollywood’s most charming couples — the rugged Aussie star and his beautiful co-star whose on-screen chemistry in *Crocodile Dundee* became a real-life romance.

They seemed perfect.

But behind the smiles and red-carpet appearances, their marriage was crumbling.

Now, at 85, Paul Hogan has finally broken his silence, calling those years both “the best and worst” of his life.

In a rare and emotional interview, Hogan admitted that fame, distance, and the pressure of public expectation slowly tore their relationship apart.

“It was a nightmare at times,” he confessed quietly.

“Everyone saw the fairy tale. No one saw what it cost us.”

When *Crocodile Dundee* hit theaters in 1986, Hogan became an international sensation overnight.

The film not only made him a global icon — it also introduced him to Linda Kozlowski, the American actress who played opposite him with such effortless chemistry that fans believed their love story had to be real.

Soon, it was.

Their relationship blossomed quickly, even though Hogan was still married to his first wife, Noelene, with whom he had five children.

By 1990, the world was scandalized when Hogan divorced Noelene and married Kozlowski just months later.

“It was messy,” Hogan admitted.

“I broke a lot of hearts, including my own.”

The couple tried to keep their relationship out of the tabloids, moving between Australia and Los Angeles, raising their son, Chance, and working together on several projects.

But the Hollywood dream began to fade.

“The fame that brought us together also pulled us apart,” Hogan said.

He explained that Kozlowski struggled to find her footing in the film industry after *Crocodile Dundee*.

“She hated being called ‘Mrs. Crocodile Dundee,’” he said.

“She was a brilliant actress, but people only wanted to see her as Sue Charlton.”

As years went by, Hogan’s career also slowed.

The sequels to *Crocodile Dundee* failed to match the success of the original, and the pressure to live up to his global image weighed heavily on him.

“I wasn’t the bloke everyone thought I was,” he said.

“I’m just a normal guy who got lucky — and then didn’t know what to do with it.”

Behind closed doors, the couple’s differences began to surface.

Kozlowski, younger and more adventurous, longed for a different life — one less defined by fame and nostalgia.

Hogan, already approaching his later years, craved peace, stability, and privacy.

“We loved each other deeply, but we were on different paths,” he explained.

“There were times I’d sit up at night and think, ‘How did we end up here?’”

Friends close to the couple described their relationship as “beautiful but tragic.”

Hogan was fiercely protective of Linda, but also stubborn, unwilling to change the quiet, simple habits that defined his Australian roots.

Kozlowski, meanwhile, wanted to explore new opportunities — spiritually and creatively.

“She was always searching for meaning,” Hogan said.

“She wasn’t interested in being famous anymore. She wanted freedom.”

When they finally divorced in 2014 after 23 years of marriage, it wasn’t explosive — it was heartbreaking.

Kozlowski described it as “a mutual decision between two people who still love each other but can’t keep pretending.”

Even after the split, the two remained close friends, living just streets apart in Los Angeles to co-parent their son.

“She’d drop by for coffee,” Hogan said with a smile.

“Sometimes we’d sit there and laugh about everything we went through. Other times, we’d just sit in silence. There’s a lot of love still there — always will be.”

Despite the pain, Hogan admits he has no regrets.

“How could I?” he asked.

“She changed my life. Without her, I wouldn’t have known what real love was — or how much it can hurt when it ends.”

But Hogan also revealed the toll it took on his health and happiness.

“The years after our divorce were dark,” he said.

“I got sick. I got lonely. You spend decades being part of a team, and suddenly, it’s just you.”

He found solace in his family back in Australia and the support of close friends, but he says part of him will always miss what he and Kozlowski once shared.

“It wasn’t perfect, but it was real,” he said softly.

“I’d rather have that kind of pain than never have loved her at all.”

Today, Hogan lives quietly, dividing his time between Los Angeles and Sydney, focusing on his son and enjoying the peace that once felt impossible.

When asked if he would ever remarry, he laughed.

“No, I think I’ve done my bit,” he said.

“I had my great love story. It just didn’t end the way people hoped.”

And though the world may remember Paul Hogan as the witty, fearless Mick Dundee, he now sees himself differently — as a man who once had everything, lost much of it, and finally made peace with it all.

“The world saw the adventure,” he said.

“But for me, the real adventure was learning how to let go — and still be grateful.”
