At 81, Al Bano Breaks His Silence – And Shocks the World

At 81 years old, legendary Italian singer Al Bano Carrisi has broken his silence, revealing personal and emotional stories that have taken the world by surprise.

After years of keeping much of his private life out of the spotlight, Al Bano opened up in an exclusive interview that touched millions of hearts, sharing memories, hardships, and a musical journey that spans more than half a century.

In a heartfelt conversation with Puglia Press, Al Bano recalled his humble beginnings in the small village of Cellino San Marco, and the bold decision he made at just 17 to move to Milan and chase his dream of becoming a singer.

He also reflected on his famous artistic and romantic partnership with Romina Power, one of the most iconic musical duos in European pop music during the 1970s and 1980s.

This emotional moment marked the beginning of a special tour – 25 events across the Puglia region, celebrating his 25 years of activity and his lasting impact on Italian culture.

Alongside the tour, Al Bano also launched his autobiography, “Il sole dentro” (The Sun Within), co-written with journalist Roberto Allegri.

The book offers a deep dive into his personal experiences, relationships, and his life-long connection to music.

Earlier in 2025, Al Bano underwent surgery to treat vocal issues caused by chronic sinusitis.

Thankfully, his recovery has gone well, and he’s already preparing for his return to the stage at the 2025 Sanremo Festival, where he’ll perform two brand new songs – marking what he says will be his final appearance at the prestigious competition.

In another touching gesture, Al Bano revealed his plans to perform a special concert at Gemelli Hospital in Rome for Pope Francis, who was hospitalized at the time – a powerful act of hope and solidarity.

He’s also accepted an invitation to perform in Moscow in October 2025, at a concert for peace, reinforcing his long-standing relationship with Russia and his belief in the unifying power of music.

Even at 81, Al Bano remains a force of energy, inspiration, and passion. His return to the public eye isn’t just a celebration of a musical career – it’s a heartfelt tribute to the fans who’ve stood by him for decades.
