After the passing of legendary singer Tina Turner on May 24, 2023, the world mourned the loss of a music icon.
For months, her husband, Erwin Bach, remained silent, choosing to grieve privately.
But nearly a year and a half later, he has finally spoken out—offering intimate reflections that have left fans around the globe stunned.
Erwin Bach, a former music executive from Germany, met Tina Turner at Düsseldorf Airport in 1985.
What began as a chance encounter quickly blossomed into a lifelong love story that would endure for nearly four decades.
Though they did not marry until 2013, after 27 years together, their bond was already deeply rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and unwavering loyalty.
In a recent tribute event marking the first anniversary of Tina Turner’s death, Erwin Bach opened up about their private life, the struggles they endured, and the profound love they shared.
He revealed that Tina faced not only physical battles—such as a stroke, intestinal cancer, and high blood pressure—but also emotional ones, including feelings of isolation despite her fame.
In one of the most shocking revelations, Erwin recounted the decision to donate one of his kidneys to Tina in 2017, when her health was rapidly deteriorating.
“She was fading before my eyes,” he said. “There was no question. I had to do it. Love doesn’t ask why.”
The surgery, though risky, was successful and gave Tina several more years of life—years that Erwin described as “a gift that we didn’t take for granted.”
Their time together post-surgery was filled with quiet mornings, spiritual practices, and heartfelt conversations about life, legacy, and letting go.
Tina, who had embraced Buddhism in her later years, spent much of her final days in meditation, often chanting and seeking inner peace.
According to Erwin, she made it clear that she did not want a lavish funeral or public spectacle.
“She wanted something simple, intimate—just close friends, family, and peace,” he explained.
Erwin’s voice trembled as he described her final moments: “She held my hand. She smiled. And she whispered, ‘I’m ready.’”
Those final words, he said, will stay with him forever.
He also shared that Tina had written private letters to a few close friends and family members in her last weeks, each expressing gratitude and forgiveness.
While her passing left a deep void, Erwin believes that Tina’s spirit continues to live on through her music, her teachings, and the love they shared.
He has since devoted his time to preserving her legacy through a private foundation supporting music education and women’s health.
Reflecting on their life together, Erwin said, “I was not just her husband. I was her student, her partner, her friend. And now I am her witness.”
Fans around the world have responded with an outpouring of emotion, praising Erwin’s honesty and strength.
His words have added a deeply personal dimension to Tina Turner’s legacy—one of resilience, vulnerability, and above all, love.
