In a recent broadcast, Rachel Maddow stunned viewers as she openly tore into the Trump-Musk-Doge alliance, highlighting what she described as a spectacular failure—particularly in connection to Tesla and its financial fallout.

She opened with sharp commentary on the growing wave of protests across the U.S., suggesting they’re clearly starting to get under the skin of corporate and political elites.
Maddow then laid out the brutal numbers behind Tesla’s financial decline, emphasizing a 71% drop in profits and pointing out that the company’s survival this quarter relied heavily not on car sales, but on interest income and emissions credit sales.
She made it clear: this wasn’t a sector-wide downturn. No other automaker is experiencing what Tesla is. The reason? In her words, it’s Elon Musk himself.
Maddow argued that the backlash against Tesla stems from Musk’s increasingly controversial public persona, his political extremism, and his secretive role within the Trump administration.
She noted the bitter irony that Tesla was propped up this quarter by government-backed environmental credits—despite Musk’s vocal opposition to climate policy and public programs.
Cybertruck, Musk’s most hyped product, is also faltering badly, with sales plummeting even compared to an already disappointing previous quarter.
Then she posed a searing question: On a day when your company is collapsing, what are you focused on? For Elon Musk, she said, it was the protests—something he claims are funded and fraudulent.

Maddow mocked the notion, suggesting it was absurd to believe thousands of demonstrators across the country are all paid actors or fraudsters. She cited protests in multiple Minnesota towns, where citizens rallied to defend Social Security and denounce Musk’s dismissive remarks about it being a “Ponzi scheme.”
She reminded viewers that these protesters aren’t freeloaders—they’re taxpayers, citizens, and workers who’ve paid into the system and are now demanding protection for it.
As Musk faces outrage for wanting to gut social safety nets and for his increasingly authoritarian leanings, Maddow positioned these protests as a moral outcry from a public that refuses to be silenced.

She ended her monologue with a powerful refrain, echoing a call to action: “Get up, stand up. Stand up for your right.”
Her message wasn’t just critique—it was a rallying cry for resistance, courage, and clarity in an age where truth is under siege from those with power and unchecked ambition.
