Urgent news from FC Barcelona reveals that head coach Hansi Flick is reportedly very pleased with the prospect of signing two major players this summer: Luis Díaz from Liverpool and Thomas Partey from Arsenal.
These potential additions come amid a period of reflection and strategic planning for Barcelona as they seek to build on their recent domestic successes and make a stronger impact in Europe.
Robert Lewandowski, the Polish striker and one of Barcelona’s key players, recently spoke about his satisfaction with the 2024-25 season.
Despite the disappointment of not reaching the Champions League final, Lewandowski emphasized that the team achieved most of its domestic objectives by winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Lewandowski described the season as “almost perfect” and praised the balance and leadership brought by coach Hansi Flick.
At 35 years old, he affirmed his physical and mental readiness to continue competing at the top level, stating, “I feel in good shape.
I returned to form after injury and finished the season strongly.
I can deliver another season at the same level.”
However, Lewandowski added that he has not yet decided on his future beyond the next season, noting that new factors could influence his decision.
He also mentioned the possibility of playing outside Europe in leagues such as Saudi Arabia or the United States but remained focused on preparing for the upcoming campaign.
Lewandowski’s admiration for Flick was clear.
He highlighted how Flick restored balance to the team, communicated effectively with players, and maximized their potential.
Reflecting on Barcelona’s Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan, Lewandowski called it an important lesson, particularly for younger players, and reiterated his dream of winning the Champions League.
When asked about who might succeed him at Barcelona, Lewandowski deferred to the club’s professional scouts, acknowledging the difficulty of finding a goal-scoring striker who fits both the team’s system and financial constraints.
He mentioned names like Erling Haaland and Victor Guirres but stressed that quality alone is not enough; the player’s compatibility with the club’s style and budget are crucial factors.
Lewandowski also picked the best El Clásico of the season, citing the 4-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabéu as an unforgettable away win that stood out for him.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager, has opened the door to potentially signing Joan Garcia, the young goalkeeper from Espanyol who has been linked with Barcelona and several English clubs.
Garcia, who has a €25 million release clause, is considered a world-class prospect.
Guardiola praised Garcia’s potential during a charity golf tournament, saying, “All the signs indicate he’ll be a world-class goalkeeper.”
While Guardiola remained non-committal about Manchester City’s interest, he acknowledged the media speculation and affirmed confidence in his current goalkeepers, Ederson and Stefan Ortega.
Guardiola also praised Barcelona’s young winger Lamine Yamal, comparing his talent to that of Lionel Messi but emphasizing that Yamal must forge his own path.
Regarding Yamal’s chances for the Ballon d’Or, Guardiola said that based on his performances this season, he could be a candidate despite being only 17 years old.
Guardiola did not miss the chance to commend Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid’s new coach, noting Alonso’s impressive unbeaten run with Bayer Leverkusen and his deep knowledge of Real Madrid’s challenges.
Barcelona has set its sights on Liverpool’s Colombian winger Luis Díaz as a top priority for this summer’s transfer window.
Díaz’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain amid growing interest from Barcelona and Saudi clubs.
Although Díaz is reportedly happy at Liverpool and has a contract until 2027, no formal transfer request has been made.
However, speculation intensified after Díaz’s partner posted a message on social media interpreted as a farewell to Liverpool fans.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is aware of the financial challenges involved but is waiting for the right moment to start formal negotiations.
Liverpool, meanwhile, is preparing for an ambitious transfer window, aiming to strengthen its squad under new coach Jurgen Klopp.
The club is set to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz for a potential €150 million, which would be the most expensive transfer in Liverpool’s history, along with his teammate Jeremy Friong for around €40 million.
To balance this heavy spending, Liverpool is expected to sell several players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly in talks with Real Madrid, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, and midfielder Harvey Elliott.
Defender Ibrahima Konaté’s future is also uncertain as his contract nears expiration.
Amid these changes, Luis Díaz’s role in Liverpool’s future plans appears less certain, despite his importance last season.
Usman Dembélé, who recently won the UEFA Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, expressed deep respect and appreciation for Barcelona, his former club.
In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Dembélé said, “I joined Barcelona when I was 20 years old.
It was my dream club, and I will never speak ill of it or belittle it.
I have a lot of respect for this entity.”
Dembélé’s time at Barcelona was marked by highs and lows, with injuries limiting his impact.
He moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 for €50 million after playing 185 matches for Barcelona, scoring 40 goals and providing 42 assists.
Despite the challenges, Dembélé’s sentiments highlight the emotional connection players often maintain with the club.
In addition to Díaz, Barcelona has renewed interest in Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.
Partey’s contract with Arsenal is set to expire soon, and the Gunners’ recent pursuit of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi for €60 million may influence Partey’s decision to leave.
Partey was signed by Arsenal in 2020 for €50 million from Atlético Madrid.
According to Mundo Deportivo, contacts have been made between people close to Partey and Barcelona regarding a potential deal.
Although Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has expressed a desire to keep Partey, the player is entering the final month of his contract without signs of renewal.
The possible arrivals of Luis Díaz and Thomas Partey would significantly strengthen Barcelona’s squad depth and quality.
Díaz’s pace and creativity on the wing fit perfectly with Hansi Flick’s attacking philosophy, while Partey’s experience and midfield versatility would add stability and balance.
These moves align with Barcelona’s broader strategy to blend youth and experience while maintaining financial discipline.
As Barcelona prepares for the new season, the club’s management and coaching staff are focused on maximizing the potential of their current stars like Lewandowski, Yamal, Pedri, and Rafinha, while integrating new signings to compete at the highest levels domestically and in Europe.
The ongoing rivalry with Real Madrid, now led by Xabi Alonso, ensures that the upcoming campaigns will be filled with intense competition and high stakes.
Fans eagerly await official announcements and hope that these transfer plans will bring renewed success and excitement to Camp Nou.
The combination of experienced leaders and emerging talents under Hansi Flick’s guidance promises an intriguing future for one of football’s most storied clubs.
