Taylor Swift’s Engagement Ring: A Rare Gem that Sparked a Media Frenzy and Celebrity Reactions

Taylor Swift’s engagement ring from Travis Kelce is making headlines, and for good reason.

Described as “rare” by Wove CEO Simone Kendle in an exclusive interview with Newsweek, the ring is not just a symbol of love but also a potential trendsetter in the world of engagement jewelry.

Kendle previously collaborated with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end to create a personalized “TNT” bracelet for Swift, a sweet nod to their initials—Taylor and Travis.

The engagement announcement on August 26 sent shockwaves through social media, with their joint statement garnering over 36 million likes on Instagram.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they wrote, alongside a firecracker emoji, a clever reference to their “TNT” nickname.

The proposal came just two weeks after Swift announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.

Kendle shared insights about Swift’s striking engagement ring, suggesting that it could redefine engagement ring trends moving forward.

“Taylor’s engagement ring is striking because it feels steeped in history, rather than what we were seeing trending for 2025 engagement rings,” she explained.

“The center stone appears to be an old mine-cut diamond, a shape with a romantic, antique character. A modern shopper could capture a similar look with an elongated cushion cut.”

She estimates the diamond to be in the 7–8 carat range, valued between $800,000 and $1 million, depending on its color and clarity, as well as its newfound fame as Taylor’s ring.

Kendle noted that “pieces like this have the power to set trends, much like Audrey Hepburn once made yellow diamonds iconic,” adding that “Taylor could very well spark a renewed desire for old mine-cuts.”

The ring, set in warm yellow gold with a wide band, possesses a vintage charm that feels increasingly rare today.

“It doesn’t chase trends; it leans into heritage, which makes it quintessentially her,” Kendle remarked.

It’s important to clarify that Wove did not create Swift’s engagement ring; instead, it was crafted by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.

Kelce approached Wove, a Pennsylvania-based jewelry company, in early 2024 to design a custom piece for his then-girlfriend.

“Since this was for him, we were all hands on deck,” Kendle told People at the time.

“A lot of us are Swifties (especially since she’s from Pennsylvania), and the idea of having Taylor wearing one of our pieces was really exciting since we knew that it would bring major exposure to our brand.”

The engagement news has drawn reactions from various high-profile figures.
