Cardi B Unleashes the Drama: Why Other Female Rappers ‘Can’t Stand’ Her – Is It Jealousy or Just the Spotlight?
Cardi B is back in the spotlight, and this time she’s not holding back.
With the release of her highly anticipated album, Am I The Drama?, set for September 19, the Bronx native has taken to the airwaves to discuss the tumultuous relationships she has with other female rappers.
In a revealing interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, Cardi delved into the reasons behind the ongoing conflicts that seem to follow her both online and in real life.
This recurring theme of drama has inspired the title of her second album, a reflection of her journey through the complexities of fame and rivalry.
“It’s like, ‘Damn, does drama chase me? Or am I the drama?’” she mused during the interview.
Cardi believes that she possesses an inherent quality that elicits strong reactions from others, a trait she refers to as her “anointed light.”
She elaborated, “Sometimes the light is great, but it also disturbs people’s peace. It draws people to me, and it’s not always going to be good. That light might bother people … maybe it’s too bright, it’s too loud. It’s always been like this to me.”
The Grammy-winning artist reflected on how her connection to drama has persisted throughout her life, from her high school days to her current career in the music industry.
“Even in the industry, there are a lot of different female rappers, but for some reason, it’s something about me that these b—hes can’t stand,” she explained.
“They can’t f–k with me. Some b—hes, I feel like they’re on this class right now, they’re sophomores, and I’m a senior. And it’s like, you want to f–k with the senior so bad. You think you’re here with the senior. You’re not even a junior. You need to worry about them other sophomores before you start worrying about the f–king senior.”
Cardi’s bold words reflect her confidence and the competitive nature of the music industry, particularly among female rappers.
“It’s something about [me] that it’s like, they can’t even focus on them,” she added.
“They got to focus on me. And they always got to focus on throwing me shots and throwing me slings … and I’m sick of it. It’s like, f–k you, f–k everybody.”
While Cardi B didn’t mention any specific individuals, her history of public disputes is well-documented.
From her highly publicized clash with fellow rap icon Nicki Minaj to her exchanges on social media with artists like JT of City Girls, Akbar V, and Bia, Cardi has found herself at the center of numerous controversies.
As fans eagerly await the release of Am I The Drama?, many are left wondering if Cardi will address any of her feuds in the album.
Recently, she unveiled a single from the LP titled “Imaginary Playerz,” which samples Jay-Z’s classic 1997 track “Imaginary Players.”
In her interview, Cardi shared her experience of obtaining the mogul’s approval to use his work, expressing her nerves leading up to the submission.
“When it was time to submit it to get approved, I was a little scared,” she admitted.
“I was a little shaky. ‘Wait a minute, Jay-Z got to approve it.’ I mean, I always knew that he got to approve it, but it was like, how about if he don’t approve it? How about if he f–king likes it? And he did like it. And it’s so crazy, the text message of him approving it, it was at 4:44 p.m.”
This moment of validation from one of hip-hop’s biggest names adds another layer of intrigue to Cardi’s return.
As she prepares to drop her new album, the anticipation surrounding her music and the drama that often accompanies it continues to grow.
Cardi B’s unapologetic attitude and willingness to confront the challenges of her career make her a compelling figure in the music industry.
With Am I The Drama? on the horizon, fans are left to ponder whether this new chapter will bring resolution to the conflicts that have defined her journey or ignite even more fire in the ongoing saga of Cardi B.
As the release date approaches, one thing is certain: the drama surrounding Cardi B is far from over, and her fierce spirit will undoubtedly keep fans talking long after the album drops.
