The Quiet Warriors and Heavyweight Giants: Boxing’s Shifting Landscape

Welcome to Toe to Toe—the boxing show where we dive into the chaos, the drama, and the sweat of the ring.

I’m Andy Scott, and today, we have an electrifying lineup with former world champion Chris Bum Smith and elite trainer Don Charles joining us.

I’m thrilled to have them on the show today.

But before we hear from them, I’m also excited to welcome Spencer Brown, Tyson Fury’s manager, from Gold Star.

Spencer, thanks for joining us! How are you doing today?

“Nice to see you, Andy.

I’m doing great, thanks for having me!”

There’s so much to talk about when it comes to Tyson Fury, but let’s start by touching on some of the rising stars in the sport.

Agit Kabayel has been making waves, hasn’t he?

“Yes, absolutely, Andy.

Agit is definitely one of the best in the chasing pack.

His win over Damen Kaba was remarkable.

The atmosphere out there was something I’ve never seen before in all my years of boxing.

The crowd was unbelievable.

And Agit has a big future ahead of him.

We want him fighting the big names—Usyk, Fury, Joshua.

That’s where we’re heading.

“The fight with Usyk seems like a dream match, though, doesn’t it? There’s been a lot of talk about it, but the logistics of getting Usyk to fight in Germany seem tough with the current situation.

“We believe we can fill a stadium in Germany with Agit as the main draw.

We’ve woken up a sleeping giant here.

The German market is massive for us, and with Usyk, that fight could be huge.

The population of his people in Germany, it’s a match made in heaven.

“You mentioned Tyson Fury, and that brings us to the topic everyone’s buzzing about: when’s he coming back, and who’s going to be his next opponent?

“Well, we’re deep in talks right now.

We’ve got a few big names on the table.

We’re down the road with contracts, and an announcement is imminent.

It’s all coming together.

We’re looking at a few opponents, and the plan is to get Tyson back in the ring in April.

“That’s exciting! Now, you also represent Jerel Miller and a few other big heavyweights.

Can you give us any insight into who might be next for him?

Miller is definitely in the mix.

But I’d say Makhmudov is one of the leading contenders right now.

We’re looking at a few different names, but he’s definitely in the top three or four.

Still, the promoters will make the final call.

It’s not up to me to announce it, but it’s looking very promising.

“That’s an interesting name.

Do you think Tyson Fury will be looking at guys like Makhmudov in the near future?

“Definitely.

There are lots of contenders in the heavyweight division, and Tyson knows what’s at stake.

He wants to keep the legacy going, and there are big fights ahead.

Whether it’s Makhmudov, Joshua, or even Usyk, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

“Switching gears a bit, Spencer, you’re also involved in the cruiserweight scene.

With the recent moves from Zufa Boxing and their signing of Japhet at cruiserweight, what does the future look like for the division?

Zufa coming into the scene is a game changer.

With fighters like Opetaia and Japhet, there’s a lot of interest in the cruiserweight division right now.

Opetaia is looking to unify the belts, and we’ve got plans in place for that.

As for Japhet, we’ve always had an interest in him, and it’s great to see him get this opportunity.

We’re looking at big things for him.

“It’s clear that cruiserweight boxing is heating up, but the heavyweight division is where the attention is.

Spencer, what are your thoughts on Tyson Fury’s return? Who does he need to face to keep his legacy intact?

“That’s a big question.

Tyson is still one of the most unpredictable guys in boxing.

When he returns, he’ll have a lot of opponents to choose from.

But with the heavyweight division as stacked as it is right now, we’re looking for a big, impactful return.

An exciting fight is on the horizon.

“Let’s talk about Chris Bum Smith now.

You’ve been working with him for a while.

After his recent win over Brandon Glanton, where do you see him going next?

Chris Bum Smith is only getting started.

I truly believe his best days are still ahead of him.

We’ve worked hard to build up to this point, and now we’re looking for the big fights.

He’s got the drive, the discipline, and he’s ready for the next step.

The bright lights of Vegas or Madison Square Garden? He’s ready for that.

“As we wrap up, let’s talk about Tony Yoka.

You’ve worked with him, and people are still buzzing about him as the poster boy for French boxing.

Can Yoka make a splash in the heavyweight division?

“Absolutely.

Tony Yoka is a force to be reckoned with.

He’s got the talent, the drive, and the ambition.

It’s all about getting him the right opportunities.

He’s ready to challenge the best, and we believe he can make a real impact on the heavyweight scene.

He’s definitely one to watch.

Whether it’s the heavyweights, cruiserweights, or the rising stars, the future is looking exciting.

Thank you so much for joining us today, Spencer.

And thank you to Chris Bum Smith and Don Charles for being here.

We’ll be sure to keep an eye on all these developments.

That’s all we have for today, folks.

Be sure to tune in next week as we continue to explore the world of boxing.

Until then, keep punching, and keep waiting.
