During her time there, she was a member of the Arizona Alpha chapter of Pi Beta Phi.

Later, she earned a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002, graduating magna cum laude and achieving the highest score on the Arizona Bar exam.

Guthrie’s professional journey began in broadcasting, with her first job at KTVM, the NBC affiliate in Butte, Montana, in 1993.

She then worked at ABC affiliate KMIZ in Columbia, Missouri, and NBC affiliate KVOA in Tucson.

In 2000, she joined WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., where she covered significant events like the September 11 attacks and the anthrax mailings.

Simultaneously, she pursued her law degree at Georgetown University.

After law school, Guthrie worked as a litigation associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, specializing in white-collar criminal defense.

She later declined a clerkship on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to return to journalism.
