WMMA legend Ronda Rousey was pummelled into retirement on December 30, 2016.

The former bantamweight champion looked to bounce back from the first loss of her career at UFC 207.
Holly Holm KO’d ‘Rowdy’ when they fought at a record-breaking event in Australia 13 months prior.
Ronda Rousey made a massive mistake by trying to rebound against the best female MMA fighter ever.
How Amanda Nunes retired Ronda Rousey
Amanda Nunes already boasted big-name wins over Valentina Shevchenko, Miesha Tate, and Germaine de Randamie when she was booked to face the fighter who made competing in the UFC a possibility for women.
‘The Lioness’ was already the pound-for-pound #1 in WMMA, but she went to the next level at UFC 207.

What was billed as the best vs the best was, in reality, a massive mismatch, which ended in 48 seconds.
Nunes landed 27 significant strikes, 23 of which hit the head, by the time referee Herb Dean waved off the fight.
‘The Lioness’ closed the job with a flurry of 14 punches that left her opponent unable to fire back.
Post-fight, Rousey retired at 29 years old. A decade later, the UFC icon is yet to return to the Octagon.
Ronda Rousey’s potential comeback
Ronda Rousey has been linked to a return to combat sports ever since she retired after UFC 207.
For the first time, fight fans have a reason to believe she might make a comeback in 2026.
In October, Rousey revealed that Mike Tyson’s $20 million comeback inspired a change of heart in her.

“Mike Tyson coming back and having the biggest fight last year, it just kind of proves that I don’t think anyone’s ever really done,” Rousey said on The Breakfast Club.
“With Mike Tyson, you can never say never now. Holy s—!
“He got $20 million. Baddest man on the planet. 108 million views. Comment whatever you want, that’s the most-watched fight of all time, and he was almost 60. That’s how much his legacy means. How much his name means.
“That was really inspiring to me personally to see him do that.”
Since then, it has been reported that Rousey could return against Katie Taylor in a crossover super-fight.
UFC CEO Dana White says Rousey vs Taylor isn’t happening, but something has changed in 2025.
So, don’t be surprised if we see Rousey returning to MMA or debuting in boxing in the next 12 months.
