Jon Jones was touched by Alex Pereira’s heartfelt tribute to his late brother, Arthur Jones, at UFC 320.

‘Poatan’ blasted away Magomed Ankalaev in 80 seconds to reclaim his light heavyweight title, and then used his post-fight interview to call for a moment of silence for the former NFL star, who passed away suddenly on Friday at 39 years old.

“I had a whole speech prepared tonight,” Said Pereira.

“I talked to my team over it, but we got some news recently.

“Something’s happened, so I want to give my respect to Jon Jones and his whole family, and I want to ask everyone here and everyone at home to take a moment of silence for his brother.”

Moved by the gesture, Jones instantly responded by sending a two-word message to Pereira on X.

“Wow Alex,” the dual-weight UFC champion tweeted, accompanied by a praying emoji.

Who was Arthur Jones?

Arthur enjoyed a fruitful NFL career that included a stint with the Baltimore Ravens from 2010 to 2013, where he played a pivotal role in their Super Bowl XLVII victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Following his Ravens’ departure in 2013, he spent three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts before closing out his career with the Washington Redskins in 2017.

He was the older brother of both UFC legend Jon and four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Chandler Jones, who won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots.

His passing was announced by the Ravens on Friday afternoon, with a statement from General Manager Eric DeCosta, which read: “We are terribly saddened to learn of Arthur Jones’ sudden passing.
