Melvin, 45, who hails from Columbia, SC, began his NBC career in his hometown, working for one of the network’s local affiliates when he was still in high school, serving as an on-air reporter between 1995 and 1997.

Almost three decades after making his first appearance on the network, Melvin is set to take one of its top jobs: co-anchoring the hit morning show alongside Savannah Guthrie.

Craig Melvin has been named as the new co-anchor of “Today,” nine years after he relocated to Westport, CT, to join the popular morning show.

The 45-year-old anchor has owned two homes in the upscale beachside town, first moving into a $2.4 million home in 2015, then upgrading to a bigger $5 million property in 2021

Melvin’s wife, Lindsay Czarniak, regularly shares glimpses inside the property on her Instagram account.

During his TV career, Melvin has moved from his South Carolina hometown to Washington, DC, and then upped sticks again to relocate to the New York area, ultimately settling down in a picture-perfect mansion in Westport, CT, which he purchased with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, in 2015 for $2.4 million.

The property—which is now worth an estimated $3.45 million, according to Realtor.com®—served as a family home for Melvin, Czarniak, and their two children, Delano, 10, and Sybil, 8, for six years, before they sold it for $2.9 million, property records indicate.

Melvin and Cziarnak purchased a new home in the same area for $5 million in 2021, this time opting for a six-bedroom abode that offers a wealth of stunning amenities, including a swimming pool.

Records show that the duo purchased the home—which is now worth an estimated $6.2 million according to Realtor.com—via an LLC.

Described in its original listing as an “exquisitely detailed showhouse” that “offers the ultimate in luxurious living,” the home boasts more than 9,000 square feet, including six full bathrooms, three half bathrooms, a full Crossfit gym, and a home theater in the finished basement.

There is also a full master wing with a fireplace and a coffee bar, as well as a “spa-like” bathroom.

Images shared on the couple’s respective Instagram accounts show that they have made a few aesthetic changes to the property, replacing dark grey walls in one room with a crisp white hue, while several of the light fixtures have also been changed.

Melvin and Cziarnak’s home has even had its own moment in the spotlight, having served as the filming location for a segment that the NBC host and his son took part in back in May, during which they were seen playing basketball together on the home’s private court.

The home is just a four-minute drive from the nearest beach.

The couple’s new property also offers them much easier access to the local beaches. While their first Westport dwelling was located an 11-minute drive from the ocean, their latest dwelling is just four minutes away by car.

However, the home’s location does mean that Melvin has something of a lengthy commute first thing in the morning. Driving into the city can take anywhere from an hour to 90 minutes during the early hours of the day, while taking the train into Grand Central takes just over an hour.

Still, Melvin is by no means the only early-morning TV star to have opted out of city life in favor of some more space in the suburbs.

In fact, his colleague Kotb recently relocated from Manhattan to the suburb of Bronxville, NY, snapping up a $2.9 million home that she now shares with her two daughters. The longtime NBC star made the move shortly before announcing that she would be leaving her role on the “Today” show in order to spend more time with her two girls.

“They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show,” she wrote in a touching Instagram post on Sept. 26.

“I’ve been weighing this decision for quite a while—Am I truly ready? But my 60th birthday celebration on the Plaza felt like a shift. Like a massive, joyful YES, you are!

“I saw it all so clearly: my broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie. I will miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited.”

In an on-air statement, she added: “I decided that this is the right time to move on. Obviously I had my kids late in life and they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have. With all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world.”
