Known for her soulful voice and guitar mastery, Raitt didn’t hold back — and the music industry is reeling.

Raitt, who has long shared stages with blues legends, called Eric Clapton “one of the most overrated guitarists of his generation.”

While acknowledging his influence, she reportedly said, “Clapton’s ego outgrew his music decades ago. The blues aren’t about private jets and antivax rants.”

John Mayer Called a “Blues Tourist”

When asked about younger blues artists, Raitt didn’t mince words: “John Mayer? Please. He plays the blues like a guy who read about it on Wikipedia and decided to buy a Strat.”

She went on to critique Mayer’s “pop-filtered take on heartbreak.”

Raitt took aim at Don Henley next, labeling the Eagles frontman as “tone-deaf in more ways than one.”
