Pastor Samuel Adibio’s Miraculous Survival: Set Ablaze but Saved by Jesus

Pastor Samuel Adibio, a 42-year-old preacher from Nigeria, faced unimaginable persecution for his faith.

On March 15, 2019, radical extremists set him on fire for preaching the gospel in Kaduna State, a region fraught with religious tensions.

Born into a devout Christian family in Lagos, Samuel’s faith was nurtured from childhood.

His calling to preach became undeniable at 16, and after theological training, he served comfortably in southern Nigeria.

But God’s plan led him north, where he and his wife Sarah planted New Life Gospel Church, ministering to a growing congregation that included many former Muslims.

Threats soon followed.

Anonymous notes and denunciations by local imams sought to silence their ministry.

Despite warnings, Pastor Samuel remained steadfast, refusing to “tone down the gospel.”

On that fateful night, as he walked home after Bible study, he was ambushed by eight masked men who accused him of corrupting their youth with “Jesus lies.”

Offered a chance to renounce his faith and live, Samuel boldly refused, proclaiming, despite his wife Sarah’s fears and prophetic nightmares of flames, Pastor Samuel obeyed.

They left their comfortable life in Lagos and started New Life Gospel Church in a small town near Kaduna.

The congregation flourished, growing to 150 faithful believers, many former Muslims.

However, this growth attracted hostility.

Threatening notes appeared, and local religious leaders condemned their ministry as foreign corruption.

Born and raised in a devout Christian family in Lagos, Samuel’s faith was nurtured by parents deeply committed to the church.

Yet, it wasn’t until his teenage years that Samuel fully embraced the call to surrender his life entirely to Jesus Christ.

After theological training at Lagos Baptist Seminary, he ministered to comfortable congregations in southern Nigeria, preaching to believers and performing traditional ceremonies.

However, God’s calling led Samuel and his wife Sarah to move north in 2015, into a hostile environment where Christians faced increasing threats.

Despite Sarah’s fearful nightmares of flames and violence, they planted New Life Gospel Church near Kaduna City.

The church grew rapidly, attracting many former Muslims.

But growth invited danger: threatening notes, denunciations from local imams, and warnings from police to reduce evangelism efforts.

The fateful night began like any other.

After an evening Bible study on John 15:20 — “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also” — Pastor Samuel locked the church doors and walked home.
