Kelly Osbourne, who is one of three daughters to the music legend Ozzy Osbourne, has broken her silence on his death at the age of 76.
Osbourne died on Tuesday
The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on Tuesday, July 22, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
The illness didn’t stop him from performing a concert to raise money for charity, which would turn out to be his last gig.
He reunited with the band
Returning to his hometown of Birmingham, UK, Osbourne reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the first time on stage in 20 years.
This was for a charity concert that raised almost $1.3 million, and ultimately ended up being Osbourne’s final hurrah.
His family released a statement
Following the singer’s death, his family issued a heartfelt statement, writing, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
But the family have remained quiet otherwise
Other than this statement, most of Osbourne’s family members have stayed quiet on his death, with only his daughter Jessica posting an Instagram Story that read ‘RIP Ozzy’.
Now, Kelly has also broken her silence on her father’s death.
Kelly shared her grief online
Quoting the Black Sabbath song Changes on her Instagram Story, Kelly wrote, “I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had.”
The song was released in 1972 but she and Ozzy had released their own version of it in 2003, which charted number one on the UK Singles Chart at the time.
Sharon also thanked people for the tributes
Sharon, Ozzy’s wife, also thanked people online for their touching tributes to her late husband, who was a music legend to many.
One heartfelt message came from BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders who heard the news of Ozzy’s death while on air.
He noted Ozzy’s role in music
Saunders wrote on Instagram, “As I was on air tonight, the news broke that we had lost one of the greatest showman the world of metal and music has ever seen.”
“The bands and artists that dare to fly the flag in the name of rock n roll do so because Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath did first. He was a blessing to music. Rest In Peace the Prince Of Darkness.”
