Gibson, according to his attorney, is getting his affairs in order, but has known about his arrest warrant for over a week, Police Captain Nicole Dwyer tells
Tyrese Gibson, the actor best known for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious film franchise,
is at the center of a disturbing legal storm after police say he failed to surrender to authorities following an arrest warrant connected to a fatal dog attack in his upscale Georgia neighborhood.
The warrant, issued on September 22, stems from an incident in which one or more of Gibson’s Cane Corso mastiffs allegedly escaped his property and mauled a neighbor’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to death.
The smaller dog, named Henry, was found lifeless in his owner’s driveway — a horrifying scene that’s left the local community shaken and the dog’s owner devastated.
“I let him out like I always do,” said Harrison Parker, the heartbroken neighbor who lost his pet. “I came back a few minutes later, and he was dead. It was brutal. He didn’t stand a chance.”
According to police, this wasn’t an isolated event. Over recent months, Gibson’s large, powerful dogs had reportedly been seen wandering the streets of the affluent Buckhead neighborhood, intimidating residents and drawing repeated complaints.
Officials say Gibson was given multiple warnings about securing the dogs, but the situation escalated when tragedy struck in mid-September.
“We’ve had consistent reports about these dogs being out,” said Fulton County Police Captain Nicole Dwyer. “This wasn’t a surprise. It was a matter of time. Our main concern is public safety. What if the next time, it’s not another pet — it’s a child?”
The arrest warrant charges Gibson with misdemeanor animal cruelty. Police say they expected the actor to voluntarily turn himself in by Friday, September 26. That deadline came and went, with no appearance from the 46-year-old actor.
“According to his attorney, he’s getting his affairs in order,” Dwyer said. “But let’s be clear — he’s known about this warrant for more than a week and still hasn’t turned himself in. That’s not cooperation.”
Despite the inaction, Gibson’s legal team insists he’s fully engaged with the process.
Attorney Gabe Banks released a statement describing his client as “deeply remorseful” and “cooperating fully with authorities to resolve the matter responsibly.” He also confirmed that the actor has since rehomed the dogs involved.
“Mr. Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while he was away from home,” Banks said.
Whether that gesture will hold any weight with investigators or the grieving Parker family remains to be seen.
“Rehoming them is the absolute least he could do,” Parker said. “My dog is gone. You can’t undo that. This wasn’t just negligence — it was avoidable.”
Neighbors in the Buckhead community, an affluent enclave of Atlanta known for its manicured lawns and celebrity residents, have expressed frustration with the lack of urgency shown in the case.
“If it were anyone else, I feel like they’d already be in jail,” one resident said, asking to remain anonymous. “We’re all watching this play out, wondering what kind of special treatment is going on here.”
Meanwhile, authorities remain focused on locating Gibson and ensuring the safety of the neighborhood.
“We’re not out to make an example of anyone,” Dwyer emphasized. “But we take this seriously. People deserve to feel safe in their own yards.”
The bizarre episode is an unexpected turn for Gibson, who in recent years has positioned himself as a spiritual family man on social media, often posting about fatherhood, love, and faith.
The actor, also known for his R&B music career, was seen on red carpets earlier this year during awards season, including the MACRO Pre-Oscars Party in Los Angeles.
But behind the scenes, tensions appear to have been building for months.
Court documents suggest that the neighborhood had long grown wary of the towering Cane Corsos, with residents reporting multiple sightings of the dogs roaming off-leash. One filing even describes the animals as “dangerously out of control.”
Gibson has not yet spoken publicly about the warrant or the incident. His social media accounts have remained silent on the matter, though comments from fans and critics alike continue to pile up, ranging from calls for accountability to defenses of the actor’s character.
Still, the question looms: Where is Tyrese Gibson, and why hasn’t he turned himself in?
With no clear answer and mounting public pressure, the story continues to unfold — and the longer the delay, the more scrutiny builds around a case that began with a beloved pet’s brutal death and now casts a shadow over one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces.
For now, Tyrese remains out of custody, his future uncertain, and a Georgia neighborhood waiting for closure.
