Ferrer, who played the younger version of Lively’s character in ‘It Ends with Us,’ has asked the court to deny a recent motion from Baldoni’s team
The ongoing legal battle surrounding the hit film *It Ends With Us* has taken a tense new turn, as actress Isabela Ferrer has accused director and producer Justin Baldoni of “harassing” her through a recent subpoena request.
Ferrer, 24, who played the younger version of Blake Lively’s character Lily, filed a rebuttal to Baldoni’s motion in court, asking that it be denied and that sanctions be imposed against him.
The dispute comes amid a long-running conflict between Baldoni, Lively, and the cast and crew over sexual harassment allegations, subpoenas, and contractual obligations.
The legal drama intensified after Lively, 37, filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni, alleging misconduct and retaliatory behavior. As part of that case, Ferrer was subpoenaed by Lively in February 2025 to provide communications relevant to the dispute.
According to Ferrer’s lawyers, after she complied and submitted her documents, Baldoni filed his own subpoena and a motion on August 12 claiming Ferrer had been unreachable and unresponsive.
In her court filing, Ferrer’s team called the motion “a transparent effort to exert pressure” and said it was “filed for improper purposes and with the aim of harassing” the young actress.
“It is clear that Mr. Baldoni’s legal maneuvers are designed not to seek new information, but to intimidate Ms. Ferrer,” her attorneys wrote in the motion.
They allege that Baldoni’s subpoena significantly overlaps with Lively’s previous request, showing “no effort to tailor the subpoena toward the production of new or different materials.”
Ferrer also claims that Baldoni’s team publicly disseminated addresses connected to her, which could have exposed her to safety risks.
Ferrer’s legal team also cited a dispute over indemnification agreements in her acting contract with Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios and *It Ends With Us Movie, LLC*. Under the agreement, Ferrer’s legal fees were supposed to be covered by the production company.
Her attorneys assert that the companies have not honored this obligation, and that ongoing negotiations over the indemnity have been “a transparent attempt to put financial pressure on Ms. Ferrer.”
They added that she sought reasonable extensions of time from Lively to respond to the initial subpoena until the indemnity issue was resolved.
Ferrer’s involvement in the legal dispute has reportedly affected her professional relationship with Baldoni and her promotional activities for the film.
During the release of *It Ends With Us* in August 2024, Ferrer and other young cast members unfollowed Baldoni on social media and avoided appearing with him at promotional events, including premieres in New York and London.
These actions followed a series of accusations Baldoni made in a now-dismissed \$400 million countersuit filed in January 2025, claiming that Lively instructed Ferrer to “shun” him in an early attempt to portray him negatively to fans.
The film itself, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, has received widespread attention for its powerful storytelling and the performances of both Ferrer and Lively.
Ferrer’s portrayal of the young Lily was praised for capturing the character’s complexity, and the film’s international premiere events — including a UK gala at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on August 8, 2024, and a New York premiere at AMC Lincoln Square Theater on August 6, 2024 — drew large audiences and critical acclaim.
Amid these professional achievements, the shadow of ongoing legal disputes has cast a tense backdrop over the actors’ and director’s public appearances.
The court filings paint a picture of Ferrer caught in the crossfire of a legal and personal battle between two powerful figures in the film industry.
Her lawyers emphasized that Baldoni’s recent motion constitutes bad faith tactics meant to “exert control” over the young actress and her communications.
They argue that the motion “overlaps significantly with Lively’s subpoena” and is designed less to obtain relevant information than to intimidate and harass her.
Ferrer’s attorneys also highlighted the potential personal risks she has faced, noting the public dissemination of addresses that could have been associated with her home.
They contend that these actions reflect a pattern of behavior that is not new and are consistent with prior attempts by Baldoni and his team to assert dominance and control over Ferrer.
The drama surrounding Baldoni and Ferrer underscores broader issues in Hollywood regarding power dynamics, workplace harassment, and the legal entanglements that can arise when high-profile talent disputes intersect with major studio productions.
As a rising star, Ferrer has had to navigate both professional and legal pressures while fulfilling her contractual obligations and protecting her personal safety.
The case is ongoing, and PEOPLE has reached out to Baldoni’s lawyers for comment, though no official response has been provided at this time.
In the meantime, Ferrer continues to seek judicial protection against what her legal team describes as harassment, while maintaining her focus on her burgeoning career.
The outcome of the subpoena dispute could have significant implications not only for the parties directly involved but also for the handling of subpoenas and employee rights in high-profile entertainment projects.
With tensions still running high, observers of the industry note that Ferrer’s actions represent a pushback against perceived legal overreach and the use of the court system to exert pressure on actors caught in larger disputes.
Whether the court sides with Ferrer or Baldoni, the case serves as a reminder of the complex interplay between celebrity, legal strategy, and personal rights in Hollywood’s high-stakes environment.
