According to the chief medical examiner, these substances likely impaired their ability to sense danger or respond to the extreme heat. The official ruling: exogenous poisoning leading to heatstroke, dehydration, organ failure, and death.

Dr. Andressa Boer Fronza, leading the autopsy, stated: “The cause of both deaths was exogenous poisoning, favoring the process of heatstroke with intense dehydration, thermal collapse, culminating in organ failure and death.”

In simpler terms, the couple’s bodies were overwhelmed by an overheated environment their impaired systems could no longer escape.
