One Dance hitmaker shared his thoughts on critics, captioning,

They thought Einstein was lying & Shakespeare was barely rhyming & Edison wasn’t lit despite what he was designing. So how can I give af what they say about my stars aligning.

The rapper made a powerful return to the stage, kicking off his Anita Max Win tour in Perth, Australia. Drake whose career has been marked by both global success and public feuds, took a moment to address the audience and reflect on his journey in music.

In his speech, the God’s Plan singer reassured his fans that he is “very much alive.” He told the crowd,

My name is Drake. I started in 2008, I came all the way from Toronto, Canada. The year is now 2025, and no matter what, Drizzy Drake is very much still alive and that’s all thanks to you.

In addition to reflecting on his career, the rapper took the opportunity to tease his upcoming collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $OME $EXY $SONGS 4 U, set for release on February 14.

While Drake was reaffirming his resilience on stage in Australia, Lamar was dominating headlines from the 2025 Grammy Awards, where he received five major categories, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his track Not Like Us. Lamar’s controversial single, which directly targets Drake with biting lyrics, fueled speculation that their longstanding rivalry remains unresolved.

Drake sued his record label, Universal Music Group, for defamation

The New York Times reported that the 38-year-old rapper has filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) for defamation and harassment, accusing the company of promoting Kendrick Lamar‘s diss track Not Like Us. The lawsuit, alleges that the music giant played a key role in promoting and releasing Lamar’s controversial track, which Drake claims spread a “false and malicious” narrative about him.

The lawsuit reads,

UMG approved, published, and launched a campaign to create a viral hit out of a rap track that falsely accuse Drake of being a pedophile and calls for violent retribution against him.

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on January 15, the lawsuit seeks damages and an order for UMG to retract the false statements in the song publicly.

Drake signed to UMG’s Republic Records Division, and Lamar signed to UMG’s Interscope division, and have been at the center of a bitter rivalry for years. The lawsuit marks a dramatic escalation in their feud, with Drake not only aiming at Lamar’s lyrics but also at the role UMG played in amplifying the controversial song’s reach

As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how the feud between these two hip-hop’s biggest stars will evolve, but with the lawsuit now in court, the stakes have never been higher.
